Sylver discovered that Mercedes had been having an affair with Liam Donovan, and later discovered that she was pregnant and secretly had an abortion. He also discovered that she ran over and left Grace Black for dead. Sylver also had a reputation for sometimes having a temper.
Breda had already killed five men and made several attempts on Mercedes's life. With the new revelations giving Breda a further motive, could she have pulled the trigger?

Grace Black attempted to shoot Mercedes in retaliation for leaving her temporarily paralysed in a hit-and-run, but missed the first shot due to her leg giving way. However, James Nightingale helped Grace line up the gun and pull the trigger, the bullet hitting Mercedes.
