The Hutch is a restaurant owned by Tony Hutchinson. Before the grand reopening in 2026 it was owned by Tony as well as Diane Hutchinson, Nancy Osborne, Darren Osborne, Luke Morgan and Mandy Richardson. Tony purchased the premises, which was formerly Attwell's Health Club & Spa, and turned it into a restaurant. Tony ended up going into partnership with Ste Hay, and Trevor Royle also ended up with a share as part of a deal to get a loan. Tony is now the sole owner of The Hutch
In August 2021, the business began struggling financially, owing to the COVID-19 Pandemic. A series of failed plans resulted in the business closing in September.
In December 2021, The McQueens purchased the property after being evicted from 1 Stockton Lane by Fergus Collins and was renamed to The Cage, The McQueens lived here until September 9th 2024 when Cleo McQueen crashed a motorbike through the window killing Suzanne Ashworth and forcing The McQueens to move out due to the damages.
In February 2026 Tony decides to reopen the Hutch and hires Ste Hay and Lucas Hay as chefs. During the grand reopening,Marie Fielding is taken hostage by her son Abe Fielding at knifepoint, and after a scuffle between Tony, Abe and Darren, Tony is stabbed by Abe and makes a full recovery.
In March 2026, Tony and Marie celebrate their engagement, during which Diane tells Tony that their son Ro Hutchinson told her that Marie’s son Arlo Fielding, has been bullying him for months, telling him to kill himself. Tony doesn’t believe Diane as Ro told him there was nothing going on and that him and Arlo are mates, before Ro can admit the truth to Tony, Arlo gets up on the mic and begins a speech about how recently things haven’t been great for him and his mum and how he’s excited to become brothers with Ro so they can spend more time together, Ro breaks down crying and Tony finally realises that Arlo has been bullying his son so without hesitation, Tony goes up to Arlo and slaps him across the face in front of everyone, Arlo later lies to the police telling them Tony has been abusing him for months and he is arrested on suspicion of child cruelty, the next day Tony is released and sees graffiti on The Hutch’s window saying “CHILD ABUSER” done by Arlo to drive people away from the restaurant and ruin Tony’s reputation.
