The Fish Tank was a reality programme devised by Chloe Bruce and Adam Morgan for a school project, broadcast on Hollyoaks FM and the HCC website in April 2003. The programme revolved around several participants living in a small environment controlled by Chloe and Adam, with viewers/listeners voting on the winner, who would receive the grand prize. As Adam worked on the broadcasting, Chloe would set challenges and push the contestants to the limit.
After local gangster Scott Anderson blackmailed Chloe, he was crowned the winner; with Kristian Hargreaves coming second, Izzy Cornwell coming third, Jodie Nash in fourth and Ellie Hunter in fifth.
The programme attained high success, but encountered several controversies: aside from Scott's blackmail, Chloe's impromptu interventions in the programme caused tension between herself and project partner Adam (such as paying Ellie £1,000 to enter the competition to cause drama) and Ellie developing a reputation for behaving promiscuously, which angered her boyfriend Toby Mills who then murdered Roxy Maguire in a fit of rage.
