The Archway marks the entrance to the village of Hollyoaks. The archway features a lookout from the top, providing a further glimpse of the scenery than from the City Wall. Residents will occasionally sit at the lookout, in search of finding somewhere seclusive or to pull pranks on unsuspecting people walking below.
The Archway has been the location of several events. In September 2010, Charlotte Lau fell from the archway whilst high on drugs. In May 2017, Kim Butterfield slipped and fell from the archway whilst standing on the edge. Suffering from schizoaffective disorder, Alfie Nightingale was prevented from jumping from the archway in June 2018. Accused of killing his boyfriend, James Nightingale was talked down from jumping from the archway in October 2019.
