Solomon "Sol" Patrick is the adoptive son of the late Jill Patrick, the brother of Gina Patrick and the adoptive brother of Joe Johnson and Kate Patrick.

Biography[]

Until 1997: Early Life[]

Sol was born at some point after 1978, as was his sister Gina. Their biological mother - Louise - committed suicide when they were both of a young age, and the pair were adopted by Jill Patrick. Jill kept this from her children.

1997-1999: Arrival and Adoption Discovery[]

Tearaway Sol arrived in November 1997. soon followed by siblings Gina and Kate. Jill had begun working at The Dog in the Pond and started getting romantically involved with landlord Jack Osborne, moving her family into 1 Stockton Lane when they were targeted by a criminal family: the Williamses. Sol refused to get along with Jack, opposed to his former career in the police force. When Jack's flat was targeted by the Williamses, Jill decided to move away but Jack proposed to her. Despite objection from the Patricks (and Jack's daughter Ruth Osborne), Jack and Jill married in March 1998.

In mid-1998, Sol began a relationship with Mandy Richardson, which her father Dennis was vehemently opposed to. In May 1998, Mandy went missing and Dennis ensured that Sol was made prime suspect. Advised by Jack and Jill, Sol admitted that he had been joyriding in a stolen car with Paul Millington on the night of Mandy's disappearance. After believing that Mandy had killed herself, Sol found comfort in Mandy's best friend Cindy Cunningham. However, the relationship ended when Mandy was found alive in London.

In March 1999, Sol and Gina learned some shocking news of their own: after Kate's search for her birth-father led to her discovering that she had a twin brother, Jill told Sol and Gina the truth about their adoption. Gina went missing and whilst Sol and Jill searched for her, Sol crashed a car into Store TwentyFour during an argument. Feeling guilt for nearly killing Jill, Sol confessed to the police and was sentenced to four weeks imprisonment for dangerous driving.

1999-2001: Prison and Meeting Jess[]

Sol struggled in prison, immediately clashing with cellmate Tank. However, in July 1999, Sol found Tank dead in their cell, having hung himself. Tank's suicide changed Sol and he struggled to deal with his discovery. Upon his release from prison a week later, he learned that friend and employer Wayne Clark had moved away, leaving him jobless. After finding employment at The Dog in the Pond, his next problem took shape of Darren Osborne - Jack's son, returning from living with his mother in the United States. The constant warring between the Patrick and Osborne children put a strain on Jack and Jill's marriage. After an almighty falling out with Jack and Darren, Jack evicted Sol.

Living on the streets, Sol squatted in derelict 12 Hingham Road until Tony Hutchinson bought the property and kicked him out. In April 2000, Lewis Richardson found him in the warehouse at Finn's Yard and allowed him to stay in exchange for acting as security. He also befriended prostitute Jess Holt, but was attacked by her pimp. In July 2000, Sol was devastated to learn that Jill had been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour. The pair took Jill to Blackpool in October 2000, and she passed away not long afterwards. He then returned to The Dog in the Pond.

In November 2000, Sol discovered that Jess had been arrested and was using Gina's name. Wanting to get her off the streets, Sol hid her in The Dog in the Pond. After Jess's pimp, Steve, found her and tried to force her back into prostitution, Sol and Jess ran away together. Jess revealed to a horrified Sol that Steve was also her brother. The pair returned to The Dog and were followed by Steve, who set the pub ablaze at New Year's. They were rescued by Ben Davies, but Jess was kidnapped by Steve. Sol began a desperate hunt to find her and destroyed one of Steve's client's cars as revenge. Steve retaliated by kidnapping Gina, but soon released her.

After learning of Gina's kidnapping, Jess reported Steve to the police. After being released on bail, Steve tracked down Jess and Sol and confronted them on The Loft's fire escape. Steve was pushed over the balcony by Jess, and - after awakening from his coma - threatened to tell the police Sol had pushed him. Jess and Sol decided to flee the country together, departing in April 2001.
