Sarah Barnes was the eldest daughter of Kathy and Mike Barnes, as well as the sister of Amy Barnes and the best friend of Zoe Carpenter.
Biography[]
2005-2006: Arrival[]
Sarah is first seen in October 2005 when she is seen attending Hollyoaks High School and is good friends with both Nancy Hayton and Hannah Ashworth. The girls would enter into somewhat mini feud with Hannah's younger brother, Josh Ashworth and cousin Fletch this would lead to Sarah and her friends tricking the boys into thinking there is a "beast" lurking in the local woodland known as "The Beast of Hollyoaks", Sarah along with Nancy and Hannah would dress up and scare both Josh and Fletch into thinking it's real.
Sarah would later be fully joined by her family by January 2006. Sarah would then later become attracted towards Hannah's older brother, Rhys Ashworth and would begin a relationship with him however it would come to an end by March 2006 when Sarah finds out that Rhys has slept with her mother. Sarah then meets Craig Dean and would begin a relationship with him in the later part of 2006.
2007-2009: Relationships[]
By 2007, Sarah is well into her relationship with Craig to the point she begins to call it love George Sarah would become slightly confused when she sees Craig kiss his best friend and Hannah's boyfriend at the time in John Paul McQueen however she believes Craig when he tells her it was just a silly drunken kiss and Sarah would be surprised when John Paul comes out as gay and is initially angry at the fact he hurt Hannah however she would begin to support John Paul and even encourage to give a relationship with a guy called Spike a go.
Sarah and Craig's relationship would later be tested when Sarah decides to pursuit a career in modelling however when she gets a job that involves her taking naked photos Craig is against the idea causing the two to argue eventually Sarah is shocked when Craig tells her their finished due to their different outlooks towards Sarah's modelling career however the two would agree to go on holiday for a few weeks and shocking every when they announce they are engaged when they return and they organise an engagement party at local pub The Dog but Sarah would discover Craig in bed with John Paul unaware that they have been sleeping together for the best part of a year she outs the affair to her and Craig's family, Sarah is devastated by Craig's betrayal but vows to move on and forgives John Paul after Craig departs.
In 2008, Sarah would briefly reconcile her feelings with Rhys when she begins to date him again however Sarah is furious when she discovers that Rhys was only using Sarah to make, Beth Clements jealous. Sarah would also soon become close friends with Zoe Carpenter whom moves in with in with Sarah and her father although Sarah would move out into Nancy's when she discovers her fathers relationship with Zoe which was one of the reason that caused her mother to depart in January 2008 when she was sectioned, Sarah would then meet, Roger Kiddle whom she meets through her friend Elliot Bevan whom has strong feelings for Sarah although Sarah is unaware of this and her relationship with Roger would come to a quick end after a few months when Sarah discovers that Rodger is in fact married.
Sarah then starts a relationship with Elliot when she herself develops strong feelings towards Elliot however Elliot would finish their relationship when he tells Sarah that they are just too different for each other and Sarah is extremely jealous and angry when she discovers that Elliot is in relationship with her best friend in Hannah. Sarah is shocked when Craig returns in September 2008 however instead of being angry with Craig, Sarah speaks with him and forgives him and even tells him to go be with John Paul. Later, Sarah would reconcile her friendship with Zoe and move back into her fathers home but things would take an unexpected turn when Sarah would sleep with Zoe leading her to feel ashamed and temporarily leave the village for a few weeks after Zoe's pleas to her to not tell Mike however Sarah would still force Zoe to depart the village for some time.
When Zoe returns a Mike is told by Kris Fisher about their night of passion as he overheard them argue in the village leading Sarah to be thrown out by Mike but would eventually make up with her father. Sarah would then go out and sleep with a random guy who actually turns out to be Zoe's younger brother in, Archie Carpenter leaving Sarah embarrassed in February 2009, Sarah would have a one-night stand with local gangster, Warren Fox whom ends up thinking her name was "Sady".
2009: Meeting Lydia & Death[]
By March 2009, Sarah along with her friend Steph Cunningham decide to open a dance class and are given The Loft to host the classes and Sarah would begin to teach Persephone Hart whom accuses Sarah of assaulting her and this leads her older sister, Lydia Hart to get Sarah sacked by Steph however surprisingly Sarah would become good friends with Lydia and the two girls would even share a kiss and Sarah would start to develop feelings towards Lydia and they would develop a relationship but Mike finds it hard to accept Sarah as being a lesbian however would soon become accepting towards her sexuality.
Sarah would start to see Lydia's paranoid side a few months into their relationship when Sarah is accused by Lydia of cheating with Zoe. After Sarah discovers that her parents wanted to put her up for adoption after a script written by Mike and produced by Zoe into a film an upset Sarah seeks solace in Lydia however is devastated when she catches Lydia kissing an ex-girlfriend of hers in Charlotte Lau this would then lead to Sarah to finish her relationship with Lydia.
By October 2009, Sarah along with Zoe are totally unaware of how jealous Lydia is towards there close friendship bond after her spending months of trying to win Sarah back things take an unexpected and tragic turn when Sarah and Zoe go parachuting when Lydia tempers with what she believes is Zoe's parachute however Sarah picks the one that has been tampered and she ultimately falls to her death. Sarah's death causes devastation amongst her family and friends and Zoe is trailed for Sarah's death in December 2009 but Lydia is found out and is sentenced to over 20 years imprisonment in January 2010.
