Mr. Sykes was a teacher at Hollyoaks Sixth Form College who Callum Kane talked to about future studies. Callum planned to study in the United States, and became defensive when Mr. Sykes thought of his plans as ambitious. A few days later, Mr. Sykes gave Callum information on living and staying abroad, putting his foot in things when mentioning that Callum's father was an archeologist travelling the world. Callum insulted Mr. Sykes and stormed off.
