Mr. Philpot was an antiques dealer who shopped at Savage's Emporium in October 2014. Freddie Roscoe noticed Mr. Philpot purchasing a £150 teapot from Dennis Savage, which Dennis later admitted to Freddie was worthless. Freddie met with Mr. Philpot in The Hutch under the name "Marcus Newton", telling him that he had some rare artifacts from Egypt. The next day, Freddie arranged to meet Mr. Philpot at a posh hotel, asking £5,000 for some fake Egyptian-style ornaments. As Mr. Philpot attempted to significantly decrease the asking price, Sinead Roscoe turned up under the guise of a PA, telling "Marcus" that her boss was interested in the artifacts. Sinead ended up driving up the price to £4,100 in the terms of a faux phone call.
