Melanie "Mel" Burton was the twin sister of Sophie Burton, the daughter of Liz and Michael Burton and the sister of Justin Burton. Mel was killed in The Dog in the Pond Explosion, started by Sophie's ex-boyfriend Sam Owen, in September 2006 alongside Sophie, Sam, Joe Spencer and Olivia Johnson.
