Martine Gloria Deveraux (previously Loveday) is the daughter of Walter and Gloria Deveraux, the sister of Simone Loveday and Melanie Deveraux, the wife of the late Louis Loveday and the mother of Mitchell Deveraux and Toby and Celeste Faroe. She is also the current manager of Price Slice.
2021: Breast Cancer
At the beginning of April, Martine confesses to her daughter Celeste Faroe that she still loves Felix Westwood. She goes to his workplace to confess her feelings, but he runs over a lump on her breast. Martine confesses that she had found it a few weeks ago, and was to have it checked the following day. Both Martine and Grace Black have tests - Grace had also found a lump - and while Grace got the all clear, Martine was told she needed to be taken for a biopsy, and she breaks down. Grace and Martine confide in each other, putting their differences aside. Nonetheless the biopsy goes ahead, but the following month, she is diagnosed with breast cancer. Originally, she is reluctant to start treatment, but decides to go ahead with it anyway. She continues to bond with Grace, and the two become friends, but she continues to have an attraction to Felix, despite what he did to her, and the fact he’s dating Grace at the time. When Martine’s hair falls out due to the chemotherapy, she and Felix try on wigs, and during the activity, the two kiss. Grace buys Martine a gift, but when Felix is arrested for allegedly attacking Walter, Martine provides the police with his alibi. The arresting policewoman later releases him, and proceeds to tell a suspicious Grace about the event. She confronts them at The Dog which effectively ruins her friendship with Martine and her relationship with Felix, who later flees the village. Grace admits she doesn’t want to lose her friendship with Martine, who agrees, but Grace later encourages her to confess her feelings to Felix once and for all, but by that time, he’s gone.
When he returns in September, Felix proves himself to Martine and the two declare their love. Later that day, Martine says that she got a call from her oncologist at Dee Valley Hospital who tells her that her tumour has not shrunk as much as they hoped, and that she needed to undergo a mastectomy.
- 2019-: Martine sits down to dinner with her family.
