Martin "Jono" Johnson was the fiancé of Ruby Button. A sixth former at Hollyoaks Sixth Form College, Jono was close friends with Bart McQueen and Neil Cooper, and apart of a friend group consisting of the trio plus George Smith, Tilly Evans, Maddie Morrison and Sinead O'Connor.
After a controversial relationship with Ruby, she and Jono decided to elope to Gretna Green with their friends as witnesses. After stealing a faulty minibus, Maddie ended up crashing it through the venue of Tony Hutchinson and Cindy Cunningham's second wedding/Ste Hay and Doug Carter's civil partnership celebration. Jono was amongst the casualties, tragically dying the next day in Ruby's arms from an undiscovered blood clot
