Mark Rushton was a friend of Jason Costello. Jason met Mark in September 2010 through a group of boys he had befriended. Mark later met Bart McQueen (helping him hide from a guard at Hollyoaks High School) at the skate park and went to call Jason's phone, only for Bart McQueen's girlfriend Jasmine's phone (which Bart had in his possession) to ring. Although confused, Mark did not realise that Jasmine and Jason were the same person but never saw Jason again after failing to apprehend him for punching Fern.
