An unnamed magistrate oversaw Alex Bell's request for parental responsibility over his newborn son Charlie Green in January 2002. During ex-girlfriend Anna Green's pregnancy, Alex made clear that he did not want to father a child and was unable to convince Anna to undergo an abortion. Anna and Alex's relationship ultimately turned sour, with Anna shutting him out of her pregnancy. However, after the birth of their son in December 2001, Alex changed his mind and went to the courts to apply for parental responsibility when Anna refused to let him be part of her son's life. The magistrate ultimately granted Alex parental responsibility and Anna was forced to make their situation work.
