Majid Mehdizadeh-Valoujerdy (credited in Hollyoaks as Luke Jerdy) is an English actor who played Jesse Donovan from April 2016 until the character's death in January 2020.
His other screen acting credits include Doctors, The Turing Enigma, Act/or, Chosen and The Girlfriend Experience.
In 2010, Mehdizadeh-Valoujerdy won the Laurence Olivier bursary. Whilst socialising at the awards ceremony, he was advised to change his professional name to a more British-sounding one to benefit casting directors. With many similar incidents recommending he does this, he became known as Luke Jerdy professionally. In the following years, he began to feel regret and frustration over actively avoiding his half-Iranian heritage. On 26th January 2023, he announced his decision to change his professional name back to Majid Mehdizadeh-Valoujerdy.
