Katja was the unsuspecting van driver of the laptops that Brad King, Warren Fox and Felix Westwood planned to steal.
Upon driving the van into the village Katja was stopped by Felix, who was dressed as a policeman. Felix claimed that he was carrying out random checks on vehicles, and upon inspecting the van, declared the tire tread depth was not road safe. He directed Katja to the garage, but was thrown when she identified him as an impostor because he was not wearing a stab vest. A panicked Felix tied Katja's hands behind her back, placed her into the back of the van and drove them to the garage, where Brad and Felix were wearing clown masks.
A frightened and tearful Katja was prompted to head into the garage office as Brad left Felix and Warren to unload the laptops. Whilst inside the office, Katja managed to free her hands. Felix and Warren bickered over the botched job when they were interrupted by Maxine Minniver, who was looking for Brad. Maxine questioned Warren on the contents of the boxes in the garage when Katja fled the office, grabbing her van keys on the way out. Warren tried to stop Katja driving off but was unable to, and as Katja reversed the van, she unknowingly hit Maxine, knocking her unconscious.
