Kane was a man who Ste Hay paid to destroy his husband James Nightingale's car in January 2024. Kane told Ste that the car had successfully been destroyed, and returned to collect his payment. He offered Ste drugs, but Ste turned him down and left. A couple of weeks later, Kane confronted Ste after discovering that the car he'd been asked to scrap had been involved in the hit-and-run that killed Ella Richardson. Ste attacked Kane and threatened to kill him, so Kane returned the untouched car and reported Ste to the police.
Ste made a confession to James, about both the hit-and-run and Kane unknowingly assisting in the aftermath. Unable to report his husband to the police, James decided to plant Ella's shoe in Kane's car under the guise of purchasing crystal meth from him. James then reported Kane to the police, and Kane was arrested following a search on his car. Kane told the police that Ste had killed Ella, so James visited Kane in prison and threatened to harm his daughter if he did not plead guilty.
However, Kane spotted James with Romeo Nightingale in the visiting room, and learned from Romeo's cellmate Leech that James was Romeo's father. He dealt Leech drugs from a dodgy batch which killed him, leading Kane to becoming Romeo's cellmate, and delightedly threatened James. Kane later demands £250,000 from James for Romeo's safety to which James steals from a now deceased Rafe Harcourt and pays Kane however Kane goes back on his word and still attacks Romeo after being paid as revenge for James setting him up and then threatening his family. Kane stabs Romeo but Romeo luckily survives and manages to escape prison after fleeing from the hospital.
After the Romeo drama, Kane is visited by Ella's father Warren Fox who was given a visiting order by his gangland contact Murphy. Kane at first refused to cooperate with Warren leading to Warren turning violent with Kane. The pair strike a deal that if Kane tells him who is behind Ella's death then Warren helps him get out of prison. After attacking Kane, Warren agrees. Kane then tells Warren that both Ste and James are behind Ella's death although he has no idea which one killed Ella. Kane is then spotted by James shaking hands with Warren throwing him in a state of panic.
