John Bell is the father of Alex Bell. He arrived in the village in 2001 to try reconcile with his son, but Alex refused to speak to him. Alex's girlfriend, Anna Green, was shocked to learn that John was gay. John ended up leaving, unable to convince Alex to give him a chance. He returned to the village in May 2002 following the birth of Alex and Anna's son Charlie.
