D.C. Jerry Barnes was a police officer who questioned Luke Morgan after his brother Adam convinced him to report Mark Gibbs for rape in June 2000. As there were no male rape-trained officers at the police station in Hollyoaks, the Morgans were forced to wait for D.C. Barnes to arrive from another police station. Luke told D.C. Barnes about the night the rape took place, but admitted that he had burned his clothes in an attempt to forget about the rape. D.C. Barnes advised Luke to undergo a medical examination, although warning him that DNA evidence was unlikely to be found as the attack happened in March. After the examination, D.C. Barnes told Adam that the police would question Mark and decide whether to press charges, which they did.
