Harper was the barrister who defended Scott Anderson at his trial for the rape of Beth Morgan in January 2002. The trial collapsed when it was revealed that Beth had been coached by Scott's ex-girlfriend, journalist Alyson Turner, and Scott ultimately left the courts a free man.
In August 2002, Harper was hired to represent Beth when she stood trial for hitting Scott with her car in May. However, his stint as her barrister didn't last long as he was promptly fired by the defendant for suggesting that she pleaded guilty to the charges.
