The Halloween Spooktacular was a Halloween-themed fairground event held by Jude Cunningham in October/November 2016. Cameron Campbell torched the maze in an attempt to kill Nico Blake for kidnapping his daughter, Peri Lomax. The fire spread and caused substantial damage to the fairground.
The disaster caused the death of Joe Roscoe. The Ferris wheel that Joe had been riding with his fiancée, Mercedes McQueen, had been stopped by Joanne Cardsley and the fire spread to a nearby generator. The generator exploded and Joe fell off whilst trying to jump onto a cherry picker.
Nico Blake was also presumed to have been killed in the blaze as she was trapped when the maze collapsed.
