Govinda Roy is the husband of Bel Roy, the father of Ash, Ravi and Leila Roy, and the adoptive father of Anita Roy. Govinda arrived in Hollyoaks in November 2008 as the head of the Roy family and the new headmaster at Hollyoaks High School. Govinda departed Hollyoaks with his wife, Bel when they moved back to Middlesbrough in October 2009.
