Gabriel Joseph Cruz McQueen was the son of Mercedes McQueen and her then-boyfriend Joe Roscoe. Mercedes discovered that she was pregnant in June 2015, but was unaware if the father was Joe or Lockie Campbell. Mercedes claimed that Lockie was the father, so Joe broke up with her and left. After having concerns about the baby, Mercedes underwent an ultrasound where Dr. Graham informed her that her baby had died.
Mercedes had labour induced the next day, giving birth to a stillborn baby who she named Gabriel. Joe returned to the village a week later, and was informed by Robbie Roscoe and Holly Cunningham he was the father of the stillborn baby. Gabriel's funeral was held ten days later on 15th November.
In July 2017, Mercedes saw a grown-up vision of Gabriel. Oblivious to his identity (or that she was imagining him), she spoke to him about her other son Bobby Costello, who resided in California with his grandfather. "Gabriel" convinced her to go be with him.
