Rory "Finn" Finnigan is the son of Eric Finnigan, the ex-husband of Victoria Hutchinson, and co-founder of The Loft.

Biography[]

1977-1998: Life Before Hollyoaks[]

Rory Finnigan was born in 1977. Finn's mother fled the castle she resided in to run away with Finn's tearaway father Eric Finnigan. She later died and Eric ended up in prison, so Finn decided to become a vagrant.

1998-2000: Arrival[]

Finn arrived in the village in June 1998, moving into the shed of old friend Jambo Bolton following his move to Anglesey. Jambo's friend Tony Hutchinson took an immediate dislike to Finn and began a rivalry with him over his attempts to get Finn evicted. Finn took a liking to Carol Groves and the pair began a relationship in December 1998 when he managed to restore her car, Beryl, after it fell off a cliff. In February 1999, Finn opened a market on the Yard and purchased a double-decker bus to live on and use for storage in his job - selling furniture from dead people's houses! However, not having a licence to drive a bus, Finn accidentally crashed it into the shed.

The bus proved controversial for the villagers. First, Tony opposed to it being parked on Oakdale Drive so Finn moved it to The Dog in the Pond car park. Pub landlord Jack Osborne also opposed to the bus, until Finn announced his plans to use the bus as a tour bus that would make a final stop back at the pub. In September 1999, Finn took his friends to Ireland to visit his grandmother Lady Molly, ultimately revealing his wealthy background and title 'Lord Kildiggin'. During the visit, Finn's grandmother died and Finn received her estate as her only heir. However, the death of friend Kurt Benson made Finn decide to return to Hollyoaks, leaving the castle in the care of butler James.

In December 1999, Finn planned to throw a Millenium Eve party on the bus. The party was crashed by rival Rob Hawthorn, drunkely armed with a petrol can and a box of matches. Rob set the fire but also set fire to himself, resulting in the party-goers smashing a window and escaping. The bus exploded, killing Rob and leaving Finn homeless. Friend Lewis Richardson allowed Finn to live with him and his partner Ruth Osborne until Finn purchased a barge.

2000-2001: Going Into Business[]

Finn suffered a disaster as, whilst entertaining Carol, the boat sprung a leak and sank. Finn ended up moving the boat into the market and resided there. Meanwhile, Finn's relationship with Carol came to an end when he accidentally ran over her beloved dog Meryl, then bought another dog and dyed its fur to match. Afterwards, Finn went into partnership with Lewis and purchased the Yard from the Morgan family to build a nightclub on it. Finn also began a relationship with a mystery older woman, "Vicky", who transpired to be Tony's mother! Tony was vehemently opposed to the relationship and attempted to split the pair up, to no avail.

Finn and Lewis's club - The Loft - was opened in September 2000. However, The Loft quickly landed in trouble when Lorraine Wilson, a dodgy casino owner who he was in debt to, used her own 'bouncers' to deal drugs on the premises, resulting in Taylor James being attacked and Holly Cunningham (the daughter of barmaid Cindy Cunningham) taking an ecstasy pill. Ruth's father Jack Osborne revoked his licence for the club and Finn soon found out the truth about Lorraine, using Vicky's investment to pay her off and putting Lewis on instalments to pay off.

Meanwhile, Finn and Vicky got engaged and Finn had a stag do in Barcelona in December 2000. His father Eric showed up but was quickly evicted after turning nasty. However, in May 2001, Finn's insecurities about the age gap got the better of him and he ended up having a one-night-stand. Finn confided in Lewis but he ended up telling Vicky and she ended their marriage. In August 2001, Ruth discovered Lewis preparing to set fire to The Loft to cover his debts and Finn convinced Tony to buy Lewis's share of the club.

2001-2015: Departure and Brief Returns[]

In return for his investment in The Loft, Finn invested in Tony's new restaurant Gnosh, moving to Northgate Mews to help set it up. In October 2001, Finn discovered that Lewis had been beating Ruth, but found him unconscious after a suicidal overdose and rushed him to hospital. Lewis's death triggered Ruth's move to London and Finn and Tony's return to Hollyoaks. After the funeral, Finn grew bored of life in the village and decided to return to his old life of uncertainty. Appointing Gary Nesbitt as The Loft's manager, Finn boarded a barge with a mystery woman and sailed off into the sunset.

In October 2013, Finn visited Tony as he underwent treatment for testicular cancer and accompanied him to Spain. He flirted with a woman, Maria Gonzalez, and helped Tony in his troubles with crime boss The White Man. In October 2015, Finn attended Tony's vow renewal to Diane Hutchinson, having been invited by Diane.
