Father Dan was a priest who oversaw the marriage ceremony between Grace Black and Trevor Royle in May 2016. The vicar panicked when Grace grew enraged at Trevor being late, distancing himself as much as possible. Trevor later arrived, attempting to conceal a stab wound inflicted by Nico Blake. The pair were married by the vicar, but Trevor collapsed and died in Grace's arms immediately after saying "I do".
Father Dan visited Joe Roscoe and Mercedes McQueen at 65 Christleton Terrace in August 2016 to discuss their wedding. Mercedes lied that she and Joe attended church on the regular, which Father Dan fell for. He also took a liking to Mercedes's music choices and agreed to marry the pair. Father Dan then asked if the pair had been married before - Joe had not but Mercedes was forced to admit that she had been married before. Father Dan was prepared to continue, until he learned that the wedding would be her fourth. As the priest prepared to leave, Mercedes told Father Dan that she wanted to marry Joe in proper fashion. As Father Dan prepared to agree, Mercedes was arrested for drug dealing.
In September 2018, Mercedes called Father Dan to bless her impending wedding to Russ Owen. Father Dan was unimpressed to see Mercedes, sarcastically telling her that McQueen family kept the church in business with all of the christenings, weddings and funerals. However, he told Mercedes that he was sorry to learn of Joe's death, the comments about Mercedes's deceased partners startling Russ. With Russ overhearing Mercedes making a confession to Father Dan, Russ attempted to get Father Dan to tell her what she had said. Father Dan told him to speak to Mercedes, and left.
