Synopsis

Jeremy appears to have dealt with Martha's interferences, the Hutchinsons all have different reactions to Ro's GP appointment, and JJ panics when Darren reveals he knows what is going on.

Plot

Jeremy has an unconscious Martha in his shed, and makes a phone call saying he needs to speak to someone about his mother. Darren questions JJ about why he threw his football boots in the pond, but when JJ denies it, Darren claims he already knows why and tells JJ he's coming with him today. JJ worries Darren is taking him to the police, and threatens Oscar over the possibility of him having revealed something, so Oscar messages Nancy. Jeremy deflects when Sienna and Dilly ask to spend the day with him, telling Dilly not to open the boot of his car as it's full of rubbish, and explaining away the amount of antibacterial cleaner he has as being needed for work in the allotment.

Tony and Diane accompany Ro to his GP appointment. After accidentally misnaming Ro, and apologising, Dr. Middlesworth explains the realities of transitioning at a young age, explaining lack of evidence means puberty blockers won't be provided until Ro is at least 16. While Diane is pleased that Ro's care plan won't be rushed, Tony is frustrated by the lack of progression, and Ro is left disappointed by the news of a two-year waiting list for Gender Services. Tony worries that his son won't be able to wait that long.

Jeremy panics when Sienna and Dilly turn up at his allotment unannounced, concealing one of Martha's boots under a flowerpot. He manages to get Sienna to go on an errand, but Dilly is still present when P.C. Harvey arrives with questions about Martha. At The Dog, JJ continues to panic about what Darren knows, and tells Darren he's pleased he got to know him and calls him "Dad". Darren questions why JJ looks so scared, revealing he's brought JJ to meet Andy, the United coach, under the impression JJ got rid of his boots because he thinks his football career is over. Andy informs JJ they want him on the team for the summer tour. At the hospital, Grace spots the blue coin amongst Freddie's belongings. At The Dog, Nancy interrupts Darren and JJ's conversation to tell Darren that Oscar wants to live with her. As Darren and Nancy discuss what could be making Oscar so withdrawn, JJ appears unwell and leaves.

P.C. Harvey is following up on Martha's phone call, but Jeremy makes it clear both his nieces are fine, having seemingly inferred Martha is not well. Dilly calls Martha dangerous, but Jeremy assures her he won't let Martha hurt anyone else, and leads Dilly to believe he took Martha to a care home. JJ returns home, and Frankie questions what Darren knows. JJ announces he could be away all summer for a football tour, making Frankie uneasy when he asks if she'll miss him. Oscar watches as JJ reminds Frankie of their deal, and apologises to her when he leaves to stay with Nancy. JJ again appears unwell as he rubs the back of his head. Diane has a glass of wine, as Tony tells Ro they are paying for private counselling sessions for him. Tony and Diane discuss how resilient Ro appears despite the earlier news, but Ro is secretly researching binding and takes tape from his bag into his bedroom.

Jeremy tells Sophie his favourite flower is a begonia, saying it was the favourite of someone he once loved, and tells her he's planted a lot of "Blue Butterfly" plants recently. Sophie points out another flower, which Patrick reveals to be a "Martha Rose" which he plans to plant with "Semponium Sienna" flowers, as they'll grow to become the "perfect combination". "Cordelia Rose" plants are also visible. Having been asked by Jeremy to keep everything a secret because it's too painful to talk about, Dilly refrains from telling Sienna about what happened with the police and Martha. When Sienna takes Sophie home, Jeremy asks to spend more time with Sienna in the future, before breaking off a part of the "Semponium Sienna". JJ collapses in front of Frankie, and starts seizing. Frankie begins to dial 999, but makes the decision not to, and walks away from JJ.
