Synopsis
Leela and Joel receive the results of Noah's post-mortem, Hannah supports Cleo while Abe continues to use her history of bulimia against her, and Lucas and Dillon are interrupted before having sex for the first time.Plot
Leela decides she doesn't want to hear Noah's post-mortem results, believing they will confirm it was because of something she did. Whilst discussing whether hearing the results will make their loss easier or not, Daniel overhears. Cleo rejects an offer of cake from Misbah, but Abe tells her she'll have fun burning off the calories. Leela and Joel explain to Daniel that Noah has gone to heaven, so they'll have to support each other as family, leading Daniel to question why Joel isn't living with them anymore. Leela then decides she will go to hear the post-mortem results.
Misbah informs Leela and Joel that the results have come back inconclusive. The news upsets Leela, who believes Noah has died for no reason, but angers Joel, who demands answers, and punches a hole in the wall. At Abe's HIIT class, Hannah notices how he speaks to Cleo compared to Theresa, and recognises behaviours in Cleo, such as covering herself up. Joel gets a phone call from the hospital about Joel and ends the class early. Dillon returns from buying condoms, and he and Lucas prepare to have sex. Abe turns up at the hospital, and Joel informs him the post-mortem results provided no answers. When Joel goes to check on Leela, Abe stops him and asks if anyone's checking in with him. Joel believes he has no right to fall apart, as it was Leela who had the traumatic experience, but Abe reminds him he can't keep burying his feelings.
Hannah finds Cleo staring at the cake from earlier in the McQueen garden and reveals John Paul has told her about their similar experiences. Hannah asks about Cleo's triggers, mentioning Abe's snarky comments. As Abe listens in, Cleo admits to having thought about purging for the first time in a long time. Hannah comforts Cleo, reminding her recovery isn't a straight line and commending her fight. At this point, Abe interrupts, aware that Hannah is onto him, as she opposes Abe's opinion that Cleo just needs to follow his advice, and swaps phone numbers with Cleo, offering her continued support. Having interrupted Lucas and Dillon, Ste and James discuss "first times". Ste mentions being with Brendan, comparing him to Carter, and advises Lucas to focus on exams first.
Mercedes arrives at The Dog, where a drunk Joel asks her about preparing for the arrival of her twins. Mercedes tries to talk him down, but Joel becomes worked up when Diane refuses to serve him, so he helps himself behind the bar. Rex finds Hannah, and she questions what he's done to Dave. Rex becomes aggressive, reminding her she's a prostitute who'll do what he demands. Abe overhears, and uses the information to blackmail Hannah into dropping contact with Cleo. Leela takes Joel home, challenging his behaviour. Joel becomes upset over having lost the chance to be a dad, but Leela reminds him he's Noah's. Leela acknowledges she needs Joel around to find a way to move forward, and they agree he'll move back in.Cast
