Synopsis

On the day of Joel and Leela's wedding, both parties fear the ceremony won't go ahead, Hannah continues to target Dave, and the night turns dark for Abe and Cleo.

Plot

A hungover Joel wakes up on the Hutchinson's sofa on the morning of his wedding, to several missed calls from Leela. Joel struggles to remember what happened the previous night, but Diane mentions he had spoken to Cleo. Peri can't believe Leela didn't tell her about the wedding, but Leela explains it was supposed to be a surprise until Marie finding out resulted in an argument between her and Joel, and she worries the wedding won't happen now. Joel meets Cleo for some clarification, and Cleo admits he tried to kiss her. Abe sees them chatting from a distance and returns home where Marie is asleep on the couch. Marie believes she and Arlo are homeless now that Leela's kicked them out and is relieved it doesn't look like the wedding will go ahead. Abe hopes it will, fearing Joel will make his way back to Cleo otherwise.

Hannah makes plans to convince a vulnerable Dave to take out a loan and give her the money, but Robbie remains unconvinced. Warren tells Ste to do another trip to Amsterdam, but Ste wants to spend time with his family before going to prison. Ste hides when Norma turns up. She tells Warren she thinks Joel and Leela are having a baby shower, and he should go. Warren is hesitant, but Norma encourages him to make amends with Joel. Tony and Peri convince Leela that Joel isn't leaving her, while Cleo continues trying to convince Joel he hasn't betrayed Leela because of one stupid mistake. Joel comes around when Cleo reminds him Leela is giving him everything he wants, but Marie witnesses Cleo telling Joel that that kiss was their last.

Leela has got dressed in her wedding outfit, but still worries Joel won't show up. Marie comes home, and Daniel becomes upset when he finds out she and Arlo are leaving. Leela apologises to Marie, and makes it clear she doesn't want them to leave, despite their argument. Daniel feels Leela's baby kick. As they depart for The Dog, Marie alludes to impediments to the marriage. Suzanne contacts Dave to put up some shelves. As people gather at The Dog, Abe challenges Cleo on her drinking. Leela arrives and apologies to Joel for their argument and for slapping Marie. The wedding ceremony commences, but Marie interrupts, then makes a joke. Joel and Leela exchange vows.

Marie watches her sons dance with their partners, then steps outside and lets slip to Warren that Joel has got married. She tells Joel he picked the right woman, and to leave Cleo in the past. Warren becomes upset he wasn't invited to his son's wedding, but Joel says he no longer considers Warren part of the family. Leela tosses the bouquet, which is caught by Cleo, who laughs off the idea of marrying Abe so soon. Dave arrives at the flat expecting Suzanne, but Hannah reveals the message came from her as she makes advances on him. Leela brings a drunk Joel home, then notices she hasn't felt the baby move for a while. Meanwhile, Abe takes a drunk Cleo home, and accuses her of humiliating him by making out to everyone that she's repulsed by the idea of marrying him. Abe becomes aggressive, beating Cleo with a bouquet as she screams for him to stop.
