Synopsis

Social services pay a visit to 17 Basswood Road. Warren's left seething when Mercedes refuses to launder money through the garage for him. Tony confides in Sally.

Plot

JJ questions why social services are getting involved, but Nancy explains it's routine. Suzanne tells Frankie it's up to her stop the social worker from ripping the family apart. Warren tells Mercedes to put cash he has through the books at the garage, but Mercedes refuses to get involved in any dodgy deals. Warren threatens her, but Prince intervenes and Warren throws something at him. Diane has noted 22nd April as her court date, and worries they'll lose the pub. Sally apologises for being late with the bookkeeping. Tony discloses to Sally that Rose has come out as transgender, and Sally advises they get professional support. Leah panics when left home alone with Warren next door, and leaves, quickly followed by Lucas. Theresa tends to Prince's eye in the garage, and Sally wants to call the police. Mercedes tells them all to leave so she can deal with Warren, believing he won't hurt her due to the baby. The social worker, Carol, arrives, and asks to speak to Frankie. Frankie tells Carol she didn't mean to hurt Suzanne, she just got angry. Carol asks if she gets angry often, asking if Frankie fears something.

Diane is upset that Tony has spoken to Sally about Rose, and ponders to Tony about what they'll do if Rose changes "her" mind. Rose overhears and tells them that being a boy isn't a choice, and gets upset that neither are listening. Frankie almost opens up to Carol about JJ, but he appears in the stairwell, scaring Frankie into silence again. She fabricates a story, and Carol asks if there's anything else, but Frankie says she's done. When Carol leaves, Frankie shouts at Suzanne for never listening to what she wants, and Suzanne exclaims she's had enough and leaves. Leah and Lucas reminisce about Amy, and how different their lives could be if she hadn't died. Cindy come across the pair, and tells them she doesn't blame them for their father's actions.  At The Dog, Suzanne explains how she's always treated the twins the same, and if anything, Frankie has got more attention. Nancy wonders if that's the issue.

Rose informs Mercedes he's told his parents he's "like Sally", but they don't believe him. Mercedes says she'd never let anyone tell her what to do, and offers advice about how to deal with people who don't listen. Suzanne is going to move out to give Frankie some space. Suzanne tells her she'll still have JJ, but Frankie pleads that it's her mum she needs. When Suzanne leaves, Frankie takes a bottle of vodka to her bedroom. At the garage, Warren finds Mercedes waving the bag of dirty cash over a dumpster fire. Warren promises he won't make her do anything dodgy, but Mercedes drops the bag in the fire anyway. James returns home with Ste, who's been charged with "death by dangerous driving". Leah states she and Lucas are only here because they shouldn't be scared out of their home because of something he did. JJ enters Frankie's bedroom, notices her vomit and the bottle of vodka and calls Darren for help. As JJ shouts that she's choking, Darren comes to Frankie's aid and shouts at Nancy to phone an ambulance. Tony views a webpage titled "Supporting your transgender child".
