Hollyoaks Later (Season 5) Episode 5 is a special episode of Hollyoaks which aired on Friday 21st September 2012.

Synopsis

Bart's decision to live in Amsterdam is short-lived. Brendan changes his contact on Walker's phone to "Mum" so that he can work out what Walker's up to. Mitzeee comes face-to-face with Mercedes for the first time since she escaped prison.

Plot

Brendan brings Cheryl breakfast. She is uncomfortabke with him. Whilst eating, she pulls something out of her mouth and asks Brendan what is it, he tells her that it is flesh. She spits it out and looks at her plate, which appears to be filled with blood. In real time, Cheryl wakes up in the hospital. Brendan wants to explain as a horrified Cheryl recalls what Brendan did to Mick. She calls him a monster. Nana Flo wakes up, and Cheryl pretends to not be scared of Brendan. She says that she will take Flo to the house. Flo is adamant that Brendan comes. Joel wakes up to see Mick, covered in blood, sitting on the caravan windowseat. Mick says that he will be following Joel for the rest of his life. He wakes up to Theresa. Myra will bring Kathleen-Angel and their passports - she thinks they're going on holiday.

Riley is shocked when Mitzeee buzzes to be let in the flat. Brendan returns to find Cheryl and Flo gone. Cheryl attempts to sneak Flo out of the hospital. Mitzeee tells Riley that she didn't hurt Mercedes, she implies that Mercedes stabbed herself. Riley says that he's going to marry Mercedes and refuses to listen to her. Mitzeee says that Mercedes framed her because she still loves Riley. Brendan has brought the car for Cheryl and Flo. Mercedes is surprised to see Mitzee and is sarcastic. She is confused, however, when Lauren bursts in. Cheryl demands to know who the man was. Brendan admits when asked that he was the missing man. Cheryl runs off. Walker confronts Brendan.

Joel and Theresa arrive at the ferry. Joel calls Brendan, thanking him for his help. Brendan sneaks into Walker's room and goes into his phone, seeing several texts of "*" to "Mum". He calls "Mum", but it goes to answerphone. Brendan deletes the contact from Walker's phone and renames his contact to "Mum". Brendan manages to get out of the room in the nick of time. Theresa is upset when Myra reveals that she's not bringing Kathleen-Angel. Joel thinks that leaving Kathleen-Angel behind is the best idea and agrees to go with Joel. Bart calls Sinead, apologising to her. He reveals that he's not returning to England. Jono is upset to spot Lola with another man. Riley wants Lauren to shut up but Mitzeee decides to tell Lauren everything. As Mercedes speaks lowly of Mitzeee and Lauren, Mitzeee takes a knife from the kitchen. Mercedes tries to hide her fright as Mitzeee points the tip of the knife at Mercedes's chest, saying that she stabbed her once so she could do it again. Lauren is impressed. Mitzeee said that she could stab Mercedes if she was unhinged as her, but she can't. Mitzeee is shocked to learn that Riley and Mercedes are leaving.

Bart tells Lola that he's staying in Amsterdam. She pretends to be pleased. Jono tells Neil and Dave that the guitarist from Lola's band was getting very close to her. Jono wants to tell Bart, but Dave tells him that he wouldn't be telling Bart for the right reasons. Jono leaves to tell Bart anyway. Lola draws on Bart. She writes "Lola was here" in French on his chest. They kiss and she runs a bath. Lauren handcuffs Mercedes and Riley together through a table, preventing them from being able to leave. Lauren catches Mercedes looking at the phone and throws it. Lauren and Mitzeee leave Mercedes and Riley, walking out of the village together. Lauren changes her mind, deciding that she wants to hand herself in. Mitzeee thinks that she needs Lauren. Lauren thinks that she is pregnant. Mitzeee promises to see her, after sorting a few things out first. Mitzeee admits that she's taken a liking to Lauren. Mitzeee takes one last look at the village before leaving.

Jono pays a visit to Bart. He tells Bart that he saw Lola with the guitarist. Bart doesn't believe him. Jono tells him to confront Lola, and leaves. Brendan, Cheryl, Walker and Flo arrive at a beach, walking to the holiday home. They all look around the derelict building. Brendan walks up the stairs and down the hallway, and has flashbacks to doing the same as a kid. He walks into the bedroom, and remembers playing in his room when his dad walks in and shuts the door, unzipping his own pants. Bart tries to confront Lola. She admits that Jono was telling the truth. Bart points out that he left his girlfriend for her, to which she points out that he was seeing them both at the same time too. Lola tells Bart that he needs to think about if he still wants to be with her or not. Jono walks down a street. Bart smokes a cigarette and drinks a beer as he wonders what to do. He ruins Lola's wall of photographs and uses the bath to wash off Lola's drawing before sinking under.

Jono goes back to the flat. He hears the water running onto the floor but nobody answers the door. He looks through the door to find the flat flooding from the bath. He smashes the window above the door and lets himself in. He takes Bart out of the bath and tries to resuscitate him, which he manages to do successfully. Bart thanks Jono for saving him. They agree to never talk about what happened again. Jono leaves for the airport. Jono and Neil leave say goodbye to Dave at the airport as they leave to catch their flight. Lola returns to the flat to find Bart missing. Bart also arrives at the airport for the flight. Lola looks around the trashed flat, and finds a message on the wall Bart left.

Flo finds Brendan in his old room. Flo says that he needs to do some things before she dies. She says that she is leaving the home to Brendan in the will - not Cheryl. She reveals that it's so that Brendan can burn the house down. Flo says that she tried her best with Seamus, but there was another half to him. Brendan is shocked and upset to learn that Flo knows about the abuse. The holiday home was an apology gift. Flo admits she was scared of Seamus and didn't know what to do. Brendan says to do everything; tell the police, kill him, stop him - anything. He says that the abuse is why he is a freak. Walker tells Cheryl that Brendan was protecting Joel. He speaks highly of Brendan to her. Cheryl says that Brendan should have gone to the police instead of cutting up the body. Walker is shocked to learn that Cheryl witnessed this. Cheryl considers her options about reporting Brendan, and Brendan is smug. Brendan blames Flo for not stopping Seamus, he says that she took his boys' dads, and took Ste away. He is the way he is because she did nothing. Flo begs for her forgiveness and tries to hug Brendan. Brendan is initially frightful but allows her to hug him. He puts his one arm around her head and squeezes her, suffocating her. Flo tries to fight back but is too weak and Brendan kills her. As her arms drop, Brendan gently lays her on the ground. He bursts into tears.

Walker tries to get Brendan to open up to him. He asks about Walker's dad. He says that he has a close relationship with his dad. Brendan reveals that his dad abused him, Walker is the first person he has told. Cheryl walks back to the holiday home and Brendan goes after her. Cheryl finds Flo's body and is heartbroken. Brendan says that Flo is at peace now. Cheryl tells Brendan that he is dead to her, she wants him out of his life. Brendan smashes up the house in a rage, unknowingly causing a gas pipe to leak. Brendan next trashes the bedroom. Brendan finds a drawing of his dad, and pulls a lighter from his pocket. He sets alight one of the curtains. Walker sends "*" to "Mum". Brendan receives the message and calls Walker. Walker excitedly answers and says that he's "got him". Brendan says that he didn't see that coming, Walker turns round, just to hear an explosion. Brendan turns around to find the house erupting into a ball of flame, and is thrown from the house onto the beach as the house explodes. Cheryl is left horrified as she witnesses the explosion, and searches for Brendan, running along the beach. Cheryl has flashbacks to as a child, running along the beach to try find Brendan in a game of hide and seek. Cheryl finds Brendan's seemingly lifeless body and holds him.

Bart also arrives at the airport for the flight. Lola looks around the trashed flat, and finds a message on the wall Bart left.
"Life and Death" Marc Streitenfeld Following his discovery that Nana Flo knew about his childhood sexual abuse and did nothing to stop it, Brendan suffocates her to death.
"Wife Memory" Marc Streitenfeld Following Brendan causing an explosion at the holiday home, his injured body lies on the floor. Cheryl looks on in horror as she calls to him. Flashbacks of them both playing there together as children plays.
