Synopsis
Joel makes a startling discovery in the aftermath of Walter's attack. Guilt consumes Martine when Grace buys her a gift. Sylver loses his temper with Mercedes.Plot
Grace and Joel find Walter unconscious outside Price Slice. Joel calls for an ambulance and gets Grace to phone Martine. Martine thinks her and Felix's kiss was a mistake. She heads to see Walter following Grace's phone call; Felix wants to go with her, but she refuses to let him follow, thinking Grace will ask them too many questions. Warren tells Fergus what he's done to Walter. He is confident that he will have only frightened Martine and Walter further, prompting them to sell the shop up sooner, and for a cheaper price. Martine worries for Walter. The paramedics arrive and assess him. Grace offers her support to Martine. Joel assesses the shop and suspects that Walter was assaulted as part of the robbery. Sylver is livid with Mercedes when she claims she was scammed out of the money after replying to an email about fertility issues. Mandy writes an IOU note for Tony whilst working at the Hutch.
Brooke confides in Ripley about their gender identity. Ripley reassures them that they should navigate their journey to self-identity in the way they want to. Joel blames himself for Walter's attack. P.C. Franks assesses the crime scene at Price Slice and finds a dropped piece of paper with Warren's Wheels logo on it. She sets out to question the workers on their whereabouts. Tony learns the Hutch is in financial trouble off the back of the pandemic. Mandy slots a note she has written for him in the back of the books but he doesn't see it. Donna-Marie riles Mercedes when she shows up at the pub. She threatens to expose Mercedes if she catches her interfering in Cher and Romeo's relationship again. P.C. Franks disturbs Maxine and Warren as they pack the car for their weekend away. She asks to look inside Warren's duffle bag. He is reluctant, but lets her. Gloria's pearl earrings and its casing falls out of the bag as Warren puts it back in the boot of the car. Maxine picks it up and thinks the earrings are for her. P.C. Franks wants Warren to confirm his whereabouts at the time of the attack. Joel interrupts them and insists that Warren was with him. P.C. Franks blocks Warren and Maxine's weekend away, and once she has gone, Joel wants a chat with Warren alone.
Cher senses that Sylver and Mercedes have fallen out. She offers Mercedes the money she had saved up for her and Romeo so that they could move out, so that Mercedes and Sylver can put it towards trying for a baby. Joel demands to know from Warren if he attacked Walter. Warren protests his innocence. Joel apologises for doubting his father. Martine updates Grace on Walter's health: he is suffering concussion and has a few broken ribs. She is thankful to Grace for finding Walter when she did. Grace presents Martine with a present - it is a wine glass with the words 'Friendship is a journey with no end' etched into it. Felix meets Grace and Martine outside the hospital, and once alone with Martine, is encouraged by her to make things right with Grace. Felix knows it would break Grace's heart, but Martine adds that if he is not man enough to confess to his affair with Grace, then he is not man enough to have her either.
Mercedes thanks Cher for her offer but can't accept it. She asks Cher to keep her kind offer to herself. Sylver wonders what they are talking about but Mercedes can't tell him. Sylver apologises to Mercedes for ignoring her cries, and vows to sort everything out for them. Felix tries confessing his kiss to Grace, but she wants to order cocktails. Whilst she is ordering, Felix reads Martine's texts to Grace; he is upset upon learning that Grace knew Martine had cancer before he did and assumes she didn't tell him because she was scared. Grace corrects him, but they're interrupted by P.C. Franks, who asks Felix to accompany her to police station for questioning over Walter's attack. Joel is horrified when he finds Gloria's earring casing at Warren's.Cast
