Episode 556/557/558 is a bumper episode of Hollyoaks which aired on Wednesday 27th December 2000.

Synopsis

556: Finn and Victoria return from their honeymoon. Ruth is furious to learn she's not the only one to know of Lewis's infidelity. Zara wants to move away from her mother, and Sol is horrified by Jess's revelations.

557: Sue's extreme behaviour leads to Zara taking action. Steve finds himself unwelcome in his search of Jess. Alex receives upsetting news, whilst Lewis tries to speak to Ruth.

558: Steve goes drastic lengths for revenge. Ruth, Anna and Tony are all plagued by romance troubles. Lewis wallows in self-pity, and Finn is determined to make New Years at The Loft a success.

557: Lewis wants to talk to Ruth, but she hangs up on him. Steve asks if he has seen Jess, but Lewis snaps at him. Alex gives Anna a box of Turkish delights - he has re-gifted them from his "Aunty Maureen". Gina struggles on the first Christmas without Jill. She worries to Emily about Sol. Zara bickers with Sue, who tries to make an effort. Lewis vents to Finn, he wants Finn to talk to Ruth. Alex has received a letter from the hospital regarding his sperm donation.

Lewis convinces Finn to speak to Ruth. Alex worries as the letter is asking him to make another appointment. Finn tells Ruth about Lorraine wanting Lewis to take her son from her ex-husband. Gina is alarmed when Steve approaches in search of Jess. Zara mentions that she saw Sue taking pills. Sue gets aggressive and Zara punches her as Adam walks in. Anna accompanies Alex to the hospital.

Adam is alarmed by Sue's strong emotions and forgetfulness. Steve realises that Ruth and Geri know who Sol is, so Ruth throws him out. Steve swears revenge. Alex informs Anna that he is infertile. Zara tells Adam about Sue exploding when she mentioned the pills. Alex and Anna talk about having children. Zara accidentally smashes a plate and Adam is horrified when Sue explodes and bursts into tears. A drunken Geri and Ruth sing "Silent Night" as they walk down the street. An old woman opens her window and shouts at them to shut up. Zara boards a train heading to Shrewsbury.

558: Adam answers the phone to his grandmother, Zara has turned up on her doorstep. Lewis and Finn have redecorated The Loft for the New Year's party, leaving Victoria amazed. Jacqui tells Jack about Steve lurking around outside. Steve enters The Dog in the Pond and Jack threatens him before throwing him out. Sol tells Jess that Steve is looking for them. Finn isn't pleased when Victoria wants to make their wills. Tony asks Laura to accompany him to the party at The Loft, but Laura informs him that she is working as a barmaid there tonight.

Ruth wonders if she is the reason her relationships are failing. Jack is optimistic about 2001. Taylor subtly flirts with Ruth, which only Geri picks up on. Jack calls last drinks and the customers leave for The Loft. Taylor invites Ruth to The Loft, she kisses him but runs off. Tony tries talking to Laura but she is too busy. Victoria and Finn both give Laura a bonus in secret. Ruth decides to leave for The Loft.

Tony is furious to catch a woman making out with Finn - and even more so when she makes out with him! Steve watches Jack and Jacqui leave The Dog in the Pond. Ruth finds Lewis on The Loft balcony and blames himself for the relationship failing. Steve retrieves a petrol canister from his car. Sol and Jess sneak into The Dog in the Pond. Steve spots them going inside and sneaks in, throwing petrol all over the bar. Finn starts the countdown into the new year. Finn tells Ruth that she has to break up with him. Steve drops a match and sets the bar ablaze.
