Synopsis
Everyone is left in shock when P.C. Varah informs them of Kyle's death. Nancy is distraught when she hears Kyle calling for help in the voicemail. Jack is shocked to discover that Darren has been hiding his depression from him. Brooke and Charlie try to comfort each other and an oblivious Oscar.Plot
A delighted Nancy waits for Kyle. Jack and Nancy are alarmed when a police car pulls up outside the house. She is worried to find P.C. Varah and an upset Darren at the door. She is shocked to discover that Kyle has killed himself. Brooke panics at the sight of the police, and Ollie calms her. Nancy is adamant that a mistake has been made. She doesn't think Kyle suffered from a mental illness. Darren tells Nancy that he found Kyle. She bursts into tears. Oscar has been woken by the lights and informs Charlie that the police are at the house. Charlie tells Oscar to wait in his room as he investigates. Charlie is confused when he is told to go back upstairs. P.C. Varah informs Nancy that Kyle did not leave a note.Nancy confronts Darren over P.C. Varah suggesting that Kyle was mentally ill, Darren reveals that Kyle told him that he was suffering from depression and had attempted suicide in the past. Nancy is confused and explodes at Darren. Darren admits that Kyle opened up to him because Darren is also depressed. Nancy tries to find someone to blame, she blames Darren and has to be stopped from attacking him. Darren also blames himself. Mandy blames herself for telling Darren to stop being friends with Kyle. Jack tries to comfort Darren. Jack starts to shout at Darren, he is scared as Darren couldn't confide in him. Jack shows Darren a piece of paper with Kyle's parents' phone number, he worries that Jack might have been the one getting the call, not Kyle's parents. Luke wants to talk to Darren about what he said at the bus stop. Ollie and Brooke emerge from her bedroom, Brooke senses that something bad has happened. Nancy wants to tell Charlie and Brooke what has happened.
Charlie is in shock as to what has happened, as are Ollie and Brooke. Brooke wishes that Kyle could have felt like he could talk to them. Brooke wants Ollie to promise to tell him if "he is ever in any pain", to which he promises. Darren offers to tell Oscar tomorrow. Jack wants Darren to call him more often. Nancy admits that she has always feared that Kyle would end up dead, but didn't know how it would really feel. She realises why Kyle wanted to give them the perfect day. Jack tries but is unable to get ahold of Kyle's parents. Nancy hears Jack reading a voice message and remembers Kyle's voice message. Jack receives a call from Kyle's parents. Brooke and Charlie decide to read Oscar a story. Nancy listens to Kyle's voicemail. Jack informs Kyle's parents of his death. Darren struggles to fall asleep. Brooke reads Oscar the story. Charlie tries to hide his upset from them. Nancy hears Kyle begging for help in the voicemail and screams into a blanket. Later, she checks on Brooke, Oscar and Charlie who have all fallen asleep. She sleeps on the bed with them.
