Synopsis

Verity is on a mission to prove Mitchell's innocence, while Scott wonders what his boyfriend could be capable of. Meanwhile, Sally plays Cupid for John Paul and PC George Kiss.

Plot

Lisa informs Scott that Mitchell has been arrested. D.S. Cohen questions Mitchell. Celeste tells Toby that Mitchell is going down for the crime. Scott is shocked to learn of Mitchell's arrest. Scott tells Lisa that Mitchell went missing for an hour around the time Felix was attacked, and worries that the police may not see things that way. Verity overhears and is insistent on being Mitchell's lawyer. D.S. Cohen struggles to establish Mitchell's motive. As a nurse leaves, Felix regains consciousness. Toby feels guilty about Mitchell taking the blame, unlike Celeste. Celeste receives a call, she informs Toby that Felix has awoken. She goes to see him before he speaks to the police. D.S. Cohen tells Mitchell that GBH carries a five-year maximum sentence. However, GBH with intent carries a maximum sentence of life.

John Paul compliments George to Sally, not recognising him. Sally recognises him. George tells Sally that he is going to Edinburgh to help an ex move house. Sally subtly tries to find out if George is gay or straight, but is interrupted by Cindy who needs help moving a sign. George agrees to help her and Cindy is left smitten. Sally thinks John Paul should ask George out and Matthew agrees. Lisa snaps at Martine, Martine tries to apologise. Verity has managed to convince the officers to give Mitchell a break, giving Mitchell the option to appoint Verity as her lawyer. Martine is grateful. Verity says that Scott is family so she is happy to help, but asks for information on Mitchell - she wants to know if there is another suspect she could give to the police. Martine says that she thinks it could have been Toby, and reveals a motive. Martine says that she doesn't want to trade one son for the other, Verity says that she will make sure that neither Mitchell nor Toby get sent down. D.S. Cohen asks to speak to Scott.

Celeste visits Felix. She is shocked to learn that he is being discharged. Celeste subtly tries to find out what Felix knows, Felix says that he doesn't know anything. He apologises to her and says that he thought about all his children. He wants to explain why he gave her away. D.S. Cohen tries to suggest that Scott may be a suspect. Scott defends herself and Verity suggests that Cohen changes her line of questioning. Cohen asks Scott if Mitchell is violent. She points out that Mitchell was arrested for attacking Azim in February, but Verity points out that the charges were dropped after Mitchell made an apology. Scott confirms Mitchell's alibi and lies that Mitchell was with him all night.

Felix says that he regrets giving the kids away. Celeste reveals that Mitchell is prime suspect in Felix's attack. Felix is sure that Mitchell didn't attack him. Felix decides to go to the station to give a statement, but feels unwell after trying to stand up. Celeste feels nervous when Felix says that the doctor believes that he will regain his memory in time, and guilty when he says that the first thing he thought about whilst being attacked was his kids. He says if he could go back and do things differently, he definitely would. Celeste thinks Felix should go back to hospital, but he is adamant on not going back. She has one last question for him. Mitchell is released. Scott thanks Verity for her help. Scott expects an invoice but Verity refuses to charge him. Lisa says that she could buy her a drink, but she is unemployed. Verity apologises and leaves. Martine thinks that Lisa's unemployment is "karma". Mitchell thanks Scott for lying for him. Scott demands to know where Mitchell was and storms off when Mitchell fails to answer.

Sally, Matthew and John Paul bump into George at Salon de The de Marnie and Sally is adamant on finding out George's sexuality. Whilst John Paul and Sally are arguing, Matthew approaches George and asks straight if George prefers men or women. John Paul apologises, and George tells Matthew that he is gay like John Paul. Sally tells John Paul that Matthew has done him a favour, and now it's John Paul's turn to "grow a pair" and ask George out on a date. Martine reveals that Mitchell has been released. Toby doesn't deny that he attacked Felix. Martine makes clear that he has put her in a difficult position. Toby says that he would have confessed if Mitchell was charged. Martine tells him that his violent behaviour needs to stop.

Tony is making a cake for Luke's birthday, and Diane is pleased to see Tony as his old self. Scott reveals that Verity got Mitchell off the charges. Toby is shocked to learn that Celeste has allowed Felix to stay with them. She convinces Toby to let Felix stay. Scott demands to know where Mitchell went. Mitchell says that he went for a walk. Scott doesn't believe him, and brings up his attack on Azim. Mitchell points out that he was in a bad place. Scott says that he sees a flash of anger in Mitchell every so often, and recognises a pattern. Mitchell is heartbroken when Scott makes clear that he doesn't believe Mitchell, and walks off after Mitchell asks where this leaves them.
