Synopsis
It's Mitchell's birthday - and Toby's - and Celeste is concerned about Toby's plan to reveal his true identity at Mitchell's party. Mercedes is spooked as Liam puts his plan into action.Plot
Scott lights candles on a cake for Mitchell. Celeste gives Toby a birthday card. Mitchell blows out his candles as Scott vows to give Mitchell a great day. Celeste thinks Toby wanting to go to the party is a bad idea. Celeste manages to change his mind. Mercedes is startled by something hitting the door. She opens it to find a wreath with "RIP MERCEDES MCQUEEN" written across it. Mitchell is unenthusiastic about his birthday party, unlike Scott and Diane. Mercedes tries to convince James to help Warren. Mercedes tells James about the dartboard.Liam visits Warren in prison. He winds Warren up, who manages to stop himself from attacking Liam again. He recommends Warren takes an anger management class in prison. He reminds Warren that Mercedes now has no protector. He blows Warren a kiss before leaving. Scott is delighted with the decorations, but Mitchell not so much. He tells Scott that being "out and proud" was great in Gran Canaria, but not so much in the village. Scott apologises and Mitchell feels guilty for upsetting him. Scott tells him that he hasn't - he's worked out that Mitchell is worried about Walter possibly not showing. Scott comforts him when he gets upset, remembering how he wanted a bike for his 7th birthday, which Walter worked extra shifts and jobs to be able to afford. Scott decides to try his best to change Walter's mind.
Warren gets a visit from James. Warren threatens to kill Liam, but James tells him to stop digging himself deeper. Warren is shocked to learn that James has agreed to take his case on. Scott visits Walter at Price Slice. Walter asks after Mitchell and Scott tries to talk him into going to the party. He tells Walter that Mitchell is the same person that he has always been. Walter begins to have second thoughts. Tom is furious to learn that someone has parked poorly and left him unable to move his car out of the park. Tom recalls seeing an illegally parked bike at the bazaar, and tells Yazz that they're allowed to inform the owner that they have taken it. Yazz wants to take a taxi but Tom refuses.
Toby finds Mitchell in an alleyway. Toby offers to buy Mitchell a drink. Mercedes is distracted, worrying over James and Warren. Everyone cheers as Mitchell returns. He is pleased with the changes to The Dog. Toby looks around and watches as Martine wishes Mitchell a happy birthday. Yazz walks down the hallway lookng downbeat and Tom comforts her, only for her to reveal that she did very well in the interview and they would love for Yazz to join the journalism society. Mercedes tells Grace and Sylver about the wreath. James informs Mercedes that Warren was denied bail. Grace offers to protect Mercedes. Warren trashes his cell in a rage. Liam takes the photo of Warren off the dartboard and rips it up. He takes the photo of Mercedes off the board and makes clear that she is his next target.
Celeste is furious to find Toby missing. Scott performs his drag act. Anita and Goldie have an argument about their "weaves". He introduces Mitchell and everyone chants "speech!". Mitchell gets up onto the stage and makes a speech. Scott is touched when Mitchell refers to him as the love of his life. Toby tries to hide his upset over being ignored. Mitchell and Scott share a kiss, just as Walter enters and approaches the stage. Everyone is shocked to see Walter, who arrives to give him a present. Mitchell tells him that, aside from the bike, Walter's arrival will be the best present he has ever gotten. Walter and Mitchell hug as Toby watches. Celeste tries to calm Toby as he watches the Deverauxes hugging. She is horrified as Toby steps forward after Walter says that he will always love Mitchell, and asks what about him. Martine and everyone else are shocked when he reveals that he is the son that Martine "gave away".
