Synopsis
Diane can no longer contain her secret about sleeping with Edward. Warren is on the warpath after Liam's latest stunt. Darren is starting to feel defined by his failures.Plot
Mercedes tries to clean up the mess left by Liam's thugs. Warren vows to make Liam pay. Tony asks a nervous Diane what she is doing. Darren thinks Luke is going on a "hot date", but he tells him that it's therapy. Darren apologises. Tony catches Diane throwing out a designer bag - the one Finn had gotten for her, which Edward took the credit for. She is adamant on disposing of it. The handbag confirms Tony's suspicions. Liam informs Grace that they frightened Mercedes into keeping quiet. Edward denies knowing of Diane's affair but continues to wind Tony up about it.
Warren is furious that Mercedes doesn't want him paying Liam a visit. He manages to talk her into letting him go. Darren makes posters for the comedy afternoon at The Hutch. Tony is unable to get ahold of Diane. Marnie invites Luke, Tony and Darren to the classical music evening and is unimpressed with Darren's puns, saying that she doesn't understand how women fight over him. Tony tells Luke and Darren of his suspicions. Luke searches a magazine for a quiz on if your partner is cheating on you. Luke finds one about "beating the blues", and Darren asks him to do it as a laugh.
Leela is delighted with the handbag Diane has given her for free. Diane tells Leela that she's about to lose everything, she tells Leela that she slept with Edward and needs to tell Tony. Marnie tells Edward of her cellist cancelling on her. He is rude to her. Leela tells Diane that Tony can never find out. She reminds her of Tony running away after Dee Dee's illness and his affair with Sinead. She says that Diane wasn't to know and nothing is to gain from coming clean. The quiz says that Tony is fine but Darren is in need of a duvet day and should speak to his GP. Luke asks Darren what he has to be depressed about and calls Darren's comedy afternoon a joke. He is inadvertenly harsh towards Darren, who makes excuses and leaves. Luke tells Tony that he doesn't think Diane has been having an affair.
Warren pays Liam a visit. Warren tells Liam that he plans on doing so by "flattening" Liam's thugs, then flattening Liam. Liam asks if Warren has some sort of secret weapon, to which Warren's thugs appear behind him, outnumbering Liam's. Diane and Tony comfort each other and make things up. Diane wants to see if Leela will babysit and they can have an early night. Tony tells Edward that he trusts Diane. Edward tells Tony that he wouldn't have just taken Diane's words and he would have had a "stream of endless doubts". Darren does his comedy act in front of empty seats. He compares himself to a caveman saying that if they had someone useless on the tribe, then it was "lights out". He says that the instinct of death is bred into humans. He thinks that he is a burden of society and that he is useless and dumb - "lights out". Maxine interrupts Darren's speech. He tells her about the comedy night. She says that Darren is lovely, but useless.
