Synopsis

Tony's positive outlook jeopardises Edward's plan to win back Diane. James and Grace try to work out who's blackmailing them. Sid risks getting caught with drugs at school.

Plot

Grace collects the mail, only to find a note reading "I KNOW YOU SHOT MERCEDES". James tries to hide the note from Romeo and Marnie. Leah opens her birthday presents. Marnie and Romeo celebrate Romeo and Juliet becoming official Nightingales. James is in a bad mood regarding the note, which annoys Marnie. James receives a text from Grace wanting to meet at The Loft. Leah is pleased to get a card from Ste. Sid backs out of helping Jordan, but changes his mind. Nancy is pleased by P.C. Kiss's arrival. Celeste enjoys teasing Romeo as he presents her with flowers. He falls onto the couch and they start kissing. Grace confronts James over the note. He tells her that he got one too. James accuses Grace of being the leak. Liam thinks that either Sylver or John Paul know their secret. Tony enjoys listening to "Jolene" by Dolly Parton, which Edward doesn't enjoy as much. He is pleased when Marnie pays him a visit. She wants to take him out to celebrate Romeo & Juliet's surname change but he politely declines. Sid hides Jordan's drugs in his pencil case in his locker. He panics when he sees P.C. Kiss, even more so when he hears of the locker search. Toby returns home suddenly so Celeste pretends to be ill and asks for Toby to get her painkillers. Romeo begins to have second thoughts about the affair. Sid pleads with Juliet for help. Juliet makes a distraction by kicking up a fuss about the lockers being searched. She takes the drugs to get rid of them. Grace closes the shop to subtly confront Sylver. They argue and Grace is surprised when Sylver says that he'd rather be married to Grace than Mercedes. She asks if he is proposing, to which he says that it appears that he is. She delightfully accepts, however Sylver isn't too pleased. Sid panics when he learns that Juliet flushed the drugs. Grace tells James that Sylver doesn't know. She is convinced that John Paul knows the truth. Grace delights in telling Mercedes of their engagement and Sylver remaining quiet confirms the news to Mercedes. She reluctantly congratulates them. John Paul is angry with Grace for rubbing it in Mercedes's face. His outburst makes Grace even more suspicious. Marnie arrives with a box of apple pie - a new recipe for Salon de The de Marnie she wants him to try. He is intrigued when Marnie reveals that she had planned for a string quartet to perform at the Salon de The. Tony continues to feel better with therapy. James tries to find out if John Paul knows, but does a poor job at being subtle. John Paul tries to comfort him but James shoves him off him. John Paul leaves. P.C. Kiss informs Nancy that he found no drugs. Juliet informs Jordan of what's happened. Jordan tells Juliet that she now owes him £500. Marnie finds a passed out James, as well as a note - it reads "CROCODILE TEARS AT JESSE'S FUNERAL - EVEN THOUGH THEY SHOT MERCEDES MCQUEEN". She wakes James to show him the note. She realises that James was the one who shot Mercedes.
