Synopsis

Mercedes' confronts James about his secret. At Jesse's wake, Courtney is confused when her speech is interrupted by an emotional outburst. Sid wants more excitement in his life.

Plot

Marnie wakes a sleeping James, who has used pills to get to sleep. Ollie wakes up feeling ill. Courtney tells Iona that they need to look after each other now. Romeo informs Marnie that he and Juliet will soon officially be Nightingales. Grace visits James and forces him to get ready for the funeral. Leela tells Courtney that she can be as much of an emotional mess as she would like - she is the most important mourner. Imran visits Ollie, who can't remember much about last night. Imran tells Ollie that he's staying until Ollie feels better, whether he likes it or not. The hearse arrives at the carpart of The Dog in the Pond. Goldie gets upset. Mercedes tells her that they only went out for five minutes, but Goldie said that they were magical five minutes. James gives Goldie some tissues and Grace is alerted when Mercedes tells James that she knows what he's done. They are relieved when Mercedes suggests that he's sucking up to the family because he's getting cosy with John Paul. She warns James if he hurts John Paul, his funeral will be the next. Sid wants to skip school to go to the radio station party. Juliet doesn't think it's a good idea. Jordan, Peri and Juliet try to change his mind. Sid wants to go the party regardless. He accidentally insults Juliet and she storms off. Grace tells James that today has been the hardest day since Trevor died. They both feel like they have closure. Courtney remembers that they married in The Loft - it was supposed to be the happiest day of his life, not the last. Courtney begins to blame herself and James tells her that it wasn't her fault - she needs to know the truth. Grace takes James to the office. Grace tries to get James to keep quiet when Courtney comes in. Grace covers for him. Courtney is suspicious but leaves. Grace tells James to go home. Jordan visits an annoyed Sid at school and tells him that the radio party was dull. Sid tells Jordan that he wishes that he was as cool as Jordan is with Peri. James accepts John Paul's invite to dinner, but is nervous to find that Mercedes is there. Nancy tells Sally that she feels bad about closely observing the behaviours of children from high risk backgrounds (such as Sid). John Paul compares James and Mercedes. Mercedes asks James the worst thing he's ever done. She decides to go first, telling him about marrying Sylver, then having an affair with Liam, getting pregnant and aborting the baby without knowing who the father was. Ollie apologises for snapping at Imran. Imran tells Ollie thathe might have had to say goodbye to Thierry, but he's stuck with Imran. John Paul tries to comfort James. John Paul tries to kiss James but James rejects, saying that he's not ready for a relationship yet. P.C. Kiss meets with Nancy. Jordan tells Sid that he has drugs he needs Sid to hide. He wants him to hide it in his school locker. Nancy and P.C. Kiss come up with an idea. Sid agrees to help Jordan. James drugs himself but wakes up when he smashes a glass. He finds a note at the door - it reads "I KNOW YOU SHOT MERCEDES".
