Synopsis
Darren's left speechless when Mandy admits she thinks Luke is the father of her baby. Brooke's picked on by Juliet and left in tears. Kyle comes to a realisation.Plot
As Jack practices a speech for the disability awareness show, Mandy and Nancy get their kids ready for school. Darren wants to talk with Mandy but she's insistent surgery is the only option. Nancy notices Brooke's quiet and wonders if everything's alright. Brooke doesn't want to go to school, but does anyway. Ella confides in Ollie about not knowing what to do with the baby once Mandy's had it, as she's scared of hurting it. Mandy isn't sure how to be a parent to a child with a disability; Darren reassures her but then upsets her when he remarks on the operation and why she didn't have a termination.
Mandy has a chat with Maxine about Minnie and then tells her about her own baby having spina bifida. Maxine helps Mandy realise she'll do her best - and that's enough. Juliet's vile to Brooke again. A tearful Mandy sits at Grace's grave. Darren leaves her a voicemail and then finds Kyle with his bags. Kyle's planning on leaving but Darren asks him if he's sure that's what Nancy wants. Mandy consoles Brooke when she discovers her bundled up crying in the village. Without naming names, Brooke opens up to Mandy about her ordeal at school. Brooke thinks Mandy will make a good mother.
Oscar gets stage fright before performing with the other deaf children at the Bean. Brooke gives Oscar words of encouragement and he heads back inside and sings and signs to "So Strong (Something Inside)" with his cohort. Balloons fall from the ceiling after the performance as the audience clap. Kyle returns to see Nancy, having chosen not to leave. They have a chat on the City Wall, Kyle admitting to Nancy that he wants to fight for them, and promising not to give up on them. They kiss. Mandy feels she can't go on lying to Darren with all the uncertainty they're facing and tells him that she thinks Luke is the father of her baby.Cast
