Plot

It's the day of Mandy and Max's driving test. After her test, Mr. Cunningham and Max realise that Mandy has failed when they see her kicking the car. Her day gets worse when Luke fails to turn up for the modelling job. Back at home, Helen is sympathetic and when Mr. Cunningham and a triumphant Max arrive, Helen warns them to go easy on Mandy – but Max is determined to rub her nose in his success and she eventually storms out.

Sam and Anna are back from her parents. Mandy dashes in and orders Sam into Drive 'n' Buy – he's late for his shift and she's losing precious driving practice. Anna goes into the shop where he then persuades her into joining the ski trip. She agrees on condition that she buy her own ticket.

Nikki and Dan are in bed listening to the radio and hear a dedication saying, "if I haven't already asked you Nikki – will you marry me?"

Mr. Cunningham reminds Carol that her rent is due today. Finn suggests that she ask Tony if he's still got a room at his place. She goes to see him and demands that he pay his share of the rent until she finds a new flatmate. Tony protests but they're interrupted when his mum turns up. Carol is shocked to discover that Tony has such a good-looking mum, and thinks that she must have adopted him!

Ruth is still trying to complete her dissertation. Lewis offers to proof read it but is hurt when she tells him that Ed has already offered. Finn is busy at the yard when an attractive mature lady walks over. Finn doesn't realise that this sophisticated good-looker with stunning legs is actually Tony's mum. It's clear that Finn's attracted to her and he lays on the charm. Lewis tells Finn that he is going to the club to pick up the money from the revival night.

At the club, Lewis is pleased that they've made £400 but as he's about to leave the owner tempts him into joining a card game, and he wins £40. Lewis gives Ruth £200. Ruth assumes that Lewis has been gambling again and says that she doesn't want that kind of money.

Mandy goes round to the Morgans' to confront Luke and demands to know what's going on. She can't take any more of his moods and tells him that he should either show her that he still cares or split up.
