Episode 2648 is an episode of Hollyoaks which aired on Wednesday 16th September 2009.

Synopsis

Newt is taken to hospital to be assessed by a psychologist. Gaz takes a turn for the worst in hospital. Ste tries to take revenge on Gaz. Mercedes is left looking after Lucas for Mike and Myra, but she has no clue what to do.

Plot

Newt wakes in his hospital bed. Ste sneaks into the hospital to see Gaz. Malachy and Mercedes speak to Dr. Marland about sperm washing. Newt is examined by a psychologist.

A week ago:

Newt comforts Anita over her family troubles. He tells her that she wants to stop taking his medication. Mike plans to see Amy and asks Myra to look after Lucas. Myra agrees but makes Mercedes look after him as she visits Nana. Lauren is eager to go to the cottage with Newt and Anita. Mercedes complains about having to look after Lucas. Gaz shows up at Il Gnosh but Ste throws him out.

Gaz steals Mercedes's handbag. She leaves Lucas with Ste whilst she sorts things out. Later, Ste violently confronts Gaz over mugging Mercedes. Gaz drunkenly taunts and flirts with Lauren. Ste gets rid of him. Mercedes hears someone downstairs so Malachy inspects, armed with a golf club. They fail to find Ste.

Present:
Ste tries to plant the items stolen from the McQueens on Gaz. Dr. Marland tells Malachy and Mercedes that, whilst sperm washing is 100% effective, it's not covered on the NHS and causes difficulty in conception. Mercedes disagrees but Malachy is optimistic. The psychologist tells Newt that he's deemed of sound mind but is still a suspect. In the hospital, Gaz flatlines.
