Synopsis

Lewis finds that old friends are reluctant to forgive, Ruth meets a blast from the past, and Tony's dreams go up in smoke.

Plot

At The Loft, Sam Marsden takes shots with a man named Jake, fighting off attention from Ritchie. Lewis arrives to an unwelcome reception by Finn and Tony. He bangs on The Dog in the Pond's door, desperate to see Ruth. Sam wakes up next to Jack, soon spotted by flatmate Louise Bridges who is in a foul mood. Jack finds a drunken Lewis sleeping in the doorway. Sam tells Louise that Jake is an ex-collague. Tony leaves the solicitors' office with keys in hand, surprising Ruth and Finn with how his new purchase looks.

Jack forces Lewis to sober up. Walking down Northgate Mews, Sam is rude to Vic, whose dog Cynthia retrives a loose pair of underwear falling from Sam's pants. Louise arrives at work and worries about Ritchie who claims to be ill. Finn worries about Tony's father's investment in Tony's new business. They arrive at Northgate Mews, where the business is. Sam finishes getting ready in the elevator on the way to work and is reprimanded by her boss. Louise isn't pleased to receive flowers from her father.

Tony and Finn find the new business - Dick Tasties Cafe - but are unimpressed by its exterior. Just as they walk up to the door, the building explodes. Jake, who was upstairs, walks out through the wreckage. Jack has to get Ruth to get rid of Lewis. Another man, Vic, walks out of the burning building. Louise is astonished to find the explosion to the cafe beneath the flat. Sam is cold towards Ritchie, who is also avoiding Louise. Tony is horrified by the state of the interior, even without the blast damage. Vic confesses to causing the explosion with the gas and is overly-eager to put things right. Sam tells Louise about Ritchie.

Jake continues flirting with Sam but she's put off him. Tony has second thoughts about firing Vic after learning his flat comes with the job. Lewis tries to make up with Tony, but Tony explodes at him. Ruth recognises Sam from school. Journalist Harry Fox arrives looking for Dick Tasties's owner Mr. O'Grady as The Chester Herald is hosting a competition for the place. Ruth, Louise and Sam get to know each other. Tony, Finn and Jake join them and toast to new beginnings. Ruth finally gives in and talks to Lewis. He's adamant that she still has feelings for him. Tony finally has enough of Vic and throws him out. Sam grows tired of Jake and makes out with Finn to anger him. She then argues with Louise over Ritchie, revealing what he did at The Loft. Louise starts throwing anything she can grab at her.
