Synopsis
The village is left in shock at the news of Grace's death. Mandy struggles when the paramedics want to take Grace to the hospital. Becca decides she cannot leave Mandy and Nancy after what has happened. Mel attends an AA meeting.Plot
An ambulance pulls up to Oakdale Drive. Becca and Justin prepare to run away together. Mel walks to the SU Bar, but changes her mind. Max notices paramedics going into Mandy and Tony's flat. One of the paramedics, Gus, tries to convince Mandy to let them look at Grace in the ambulance. Mandy blocks the door so Gus decides that they will try resuscitate her in the flat. Max rushes over and braces himself before entering. He is horrified to find Grace being given CPR on the kitchen counter. Becca writes a letter for Jake. Becca tells Justin that she hasn't been entirely honest with her; he says that he can handle anything.
Mel arrives at the hall, but changes her mind and decides to leave. Carl, the host of the AA meeting, stops her from leaving, opting to stay later to talk with her. Justin and Becca have seen the ambulance, they worry something might have happened to Mel, but the lights are off at the Burtons'. Becca goes to investigate and tells Justin to wait inside. Becca ignores a phone call, and assumes there has been an accident at The Loft. Max takes a shell-shocked Hannah and Nancy next door. Gus tells Mandy that they need to take Grace to the hospital. They can't do anything as they need a doctor. Mandy and Tony realise that the doctor is needed to declare Grace dead.
Mel listens to Carl's problems with alcohol. Tony asks a paramedic why Grace died, but he does not know. They need to take Grace to the hospital for her to be examined by a paediatrician. Carl reveals that he caused a car accident caused by his drinking, which resulted in several injuries, including a little girl. Becca worries as she cannot find out what happened. Justin informs her that Nancy called and left a message. Becca listen to the voicemail - Nancy informs Becca that Grace is dead. Becca bursts into tears and Justin comforts her. D.I. Green questions Tony about everything that happened up to when he and Mandy got home. Hannah thinks that she and Nancy could have prevented Grace's death.
Carl gives Mel advice: steer clear of the problem - don't go to a bar even for a soft drink, and don't have alcohol in the house. He advises her to steer clear of O.B., but Mel doesn't want to. Tony introduces D.I. Green to Nancy and Hannah. Justin and Becca are in shock at the news. She says that they can't leave Mandy and Nancy. Mel is pleased when Carl says that there is hope for her. Gus tells Tony that Grace must be taken to the hospital. Tony manages to convince Mandy to let the paramedics take Grace. Tony and Mandy get into the ambulance with Gus and Grace. Nancy arrives home, and bursts into tears as Becca comforts her.Cast
