Synopsis
Toby is enraged to learn that Steph is recovering whilst Linda is dead - but not only is his murder attempt interrupted by Jake and Zara, Steph awakens from her coma! Chloe worries when Matt is offered a job working for Scott, Becca doesn't want to be the reason Adam won't leave for New York, and Izzy prepares to partake in Ben's firefighter training day.Plot
Adam drops his journal, Becca picks it up for him. Matt cuddles with Chloe on the sofa. Toby struggles to keep it together as he leaves the funeral home. Izzy arrives at the hospital to find Jake in tears. Ben hints to Adam and Becca that he has "something planned", but refuses to tell them what it is. Chloe and Matt imagine their future. Jake wants Zara to visit Steph. Zara agrees to ask Abby and Lisa to join her. She reveals that Steph had a fling with Scott. Ellie comforts Toby as the funeral director calls Toby into his office. Adam is able to walk to the bar.
Mr. Cahill tells Toby that now that Linda's post-mortem has been completed, she can be moved to the funeral home and Toby will be able to see her whenever he wants. He asks if Linda was religious, to which Toby tells him that she was not. Mr. Cahill also asks about Toby's father, but Ellie warns him that they should not talk about Toby's father. Toby bursts into tears part way through the meeting. Ellie suggests a holiday. She tells Toby that Steph's condition is improving.
Chloe tells Adam that Becca doesn't want to be the reason he won't take the job. Toby has to choose a coffin. He struggles with the arrangements so he lets Ellie decide for him. Izzy gets annoyed with Ben and tells him that life becomes serious. He tells her of the deaths and destroyed lives he witnessed at work. Izzy is delighted that Ben has a meeting with the chief fire officer about returning. Izzy offers to go with him. Jake asks Izzy and Ben about Steph and Scott. They are worried as Jake gets wound up over Scott. Matt worries about money to Becca. Chloe also worries about money to Adam. Matt receives a job offer that pays twice as much as his caretaker job. Toby turns on Ellie to her horror, and she tells him that he is the only man in her life. Matt's new job is with Scott, as "the head of security and maintenance". Zara inadvertently winds up Jake about Scott.
Matt is shocked when Scott offers him £450 per week. Jake interrupts and confronts Scott about Steph. Scott tells Jake that Steph said she was 20 years old. Scott winds Jake up so Jake floors him with a punch. Zara flips a tray of glasses sitting on the bar, smashing them all. Ben has been re-hired as a fireman. He tells Izzy about the training day where the public can get involved, but never do. Chloe apologises to Adam for The Fish Tank ordeal. Scott tries to flirt with an unimpressed Izzy as she looks after him. Matt tells Chloe about his new job. She is pleased, until she realises that he is working for Scott. Zara explodes at Scott and Izzy restrains her. Scott calls Steph a blackmailer so Jake pins her to the wall. Scott tells him about giving Steph £100 to stop her from going to the press with photographs of them. Toby arrives at the hospital.
Izzy tells Ben that she plans to join in on the firefighter training. Chloe asks Ellie about Scott, telling her about Matt's new job. Ellie thinks that Matt should take the job, and says that Jake punched Scott and Scott hasn't fired him. Ben teases Izzy over the firefighter training. Toby visits Steph in hospital. He says that Steph doesn't deserve to live when Linda has died, and reaches for her breathing tubes. He is interrupted by Jake and Zara, quickly covering that he was just talking to her. Zara notices Steph's wrist and head move, and calls for the doctor - Steph is awakening from her coma.Cast
