Emmerdale is a soap opera created by Kevin Laffan. The series has run since 16th October 1972 and is broadcast on ITV. Former Hollyoaks storyliner Kate Brooks serves as one of the series producers.
In 1993, Hollyoaks creator Phil Redmond joined the programme as a consultant, which was at risk of being cancelled due to low ratings. Redmond parted ways with the programme in late 1994, afterwards going on to create Hollyoaks.
The village of Emmerdale exists in the same universe as Hollyoaks. In Episode 5711 (1st November 2021), Cindy Cunningham created a TikTok video of herself, which was seen by Emmerdale characters in an episode broadcast a few hours after Hollyoaks.
