An unnamed doctor treated Nancy Osborne when she was admitted to hospital in October 2012, having gone into premature labour. The doctor placed Nancy onto medication in an attempt to delay the contractions, but this did not work and Nancy needed to undergo an emergency caesarean.
Delivering the baby the next day, the doctor informed Nancy's husband Darren Osborne that the next 24 hours would be critical. He asked if the family wanted the baby baptised, but Darren's father Jack asked for him to come back later. A few days later, the doctor told Darren and Nancy that the baby was doing better but it was impossible to tell if he would live.
The doctor later informed Darren and Nancy that their baby needed an X-Ray and an ultrasound scan as the baby had developed necrotising enterocolitis.
