Debra 'Debbie' Dean is the daughter of Frankie Osborne and Johnno Dean, the sister of Jake and Craig Dean, and Steph Roach, the half-sister of Brian Bloom and Presley Dean, the foster half-sister of Barry Newton, the adoptive half-sister of Tom Cunningham and Jade Albright, and the girlfriend of the late Dan Hunter.
Biography[]
2002-2003: Arrival[]
Debbie arrives in Hollyoaks along with her mother and father, Frankie and Johnno Dean and brothers, Jake and Craig Dean to join her younger and already established younger sister, Steph Dean. Debbie caught the eye of many men most importantly that of local mechanic, Dan Hunter and later begins to date him but not before sleeping with one of Dan's closest friends in Ben Davies.
Debbie also manages to get a job at the Il Gnosh thanks to Tony Hutchinson but Debbie was always set out to become a famous worldwide singer and this would often cause problems between her and Tony. Debbie would find her self on a reality television show where she would reveal that Dan had lost his virginity to her this embarrassed Dan and he initially called of their relationship but Debbie would soon be forgiven by Dan.
2003-2004: Difficulties With Dan[]
Debbie is left stunned when Dan is arrested for the murder of Roxy Maguire in April 2003 and is left further stunned when she finds out the reason he was suspected being that Dan had slept with Roxy before she was murder however Debbie forgave Dan and supported him especially when people started to suspect him to be the Serial Killer however despite a number of up and downs Debbie and Dan's relationship would go from strength to strength but Debbie is met with the task of dealing with her sisters epilepsy after she was attacked by Toby whom is revealed to be the Serial Killer. Debbie is disheartened and angry when Steph grows closer with Dan and ends up kissing him although Debbie at first calls it off with Dan for a while she quickly forgives him.
By November 2003, Debbie's relationship with Dan is tested again when Dan is arrested for the murder of Toby Mills while saving his sister, Ellie Hunter by pushing Toby out of a window in self defence however due to Ellies memory loss Debbie is devastated when Ellie tells her Dan murdered Toby. Debbie does her very best in supporting Dan for the majority of 2004 often clashing with Ellie and Steph who both think Dan is guilty but Debbie is heart broken when Dan is sentenced to 18 years in prison and with Dan telling that they are no longer a couple so finding it hard to move on Debbie later seeks solace in Darren Osborne whom she ends up sleeping with however knowing Debbie isn't over Dan he calls of what brief relationship they had with one another.
Debbie is delighted when Ellie gets her memory back and Dan is later released from Prison but when he returns Debbie wants to clear the air therefore she tells Dan about sleeping with Darren which enrages Dan and he tells Debbie they are done for good. Debbie is left stunned and furious when Dan begins to then date Debbie's own sister, Steph but Dan tells Debbie that his still very much I love with her but Debbie tells Dan that they now can't be together as she does not want to break her own sisters heart in Steph, Debbie finds her self supporting her whole family when Johno leaves her mother for another woman named Michelle by November 2004 in the very same month Debbie gets accepted for a dream job on a cruise ship although Debbie was really unsure to take the job or not support from her loved ones prompts her to accept the job. On Christmas Day 2004 Debbie and Dan reconcile after confessing their love for one another but tragedy strike whe Dan's car during a rally cross race crashes and explodes which kills him leaving Debbie and Dan's family and friends alight shocked and heartbroken and Debbie is devastated when she discovers that Dan had been planning to propose to her the very day he died a week later after a heart to heart with one of Dan's closet friends Debbie leaves Hollyoaks but was devastated that she never properly ever got back with Dan.
2005-2006: Brief Returns[]
Debbie returns months after her original departure when she returns in August 2005 for the double wedding of her mother, Frankie to Jack Osborne and her brother, Jake to Becca Hayton after ceremony Debbie expresses her delight after introducing herself to Becca's family but departs afterwards.
Debbie is seen again well over a year later she returns for the new Dog in the Pond opening in November 2006 after the pub was blown up by Sam Owen in September 2006 and after being invited by her mothers husband, Jack as a surprise for Frankie this time staying slightly longer revealing that she is now in the West End, Debbie also expresses how proud she is of her younger brother, Craig and tells Jake that not to dwell too much of Becca's affair with local teenager Justin Burton and offers her condolences to Jake over him accidentally killing Diane Valentine, Debbie also temporarily attempts to help Steph land an audition bit this does not end well when Steph is declined. Debbie once more says her good byes after staying the night and departs Hollyoaks once more.
2007-2017: Background Presence[]
Debbie is mentioned to of helped out her family a number of times since she last departed Hollyoaks. By April 2007, Debbie was involved in a car accident but was not seriously harmed during it this was told by Jake to his and Debbie's mother Frankie.
Debbie was also visited by her younger sister Steph in September 2007 and again only this time with Tom Cunningham over a year later in late October 2008 she is said to have took a shine with Tom while he was staying with her and is thought to have been devastated that her older brother, Jake had supposedly murdered Sean Kennedy.
Debbie is mentioned to be heartbroken but unable to attend Steph's funeral after Steph's death in November 2010 and during that year for Christmas The Dean's/Osborne's decide to spend that Christmas away at Debbie's.
In 2015 after her mothers, Frankie's affair with Ziggy Roscoe is exposed Frankie goes to stay with Debbie for a number of months after temporarily breaking up with Jack but later returns and reconciled with Jack.
In November 2017, Debbie is contacted by Jack over the death of Frankie but Debbie is unable to attend her mother's funeral due to a mix up in flights.
