Darlene Taylor is the daughter of Richard and Karen Taylor, and the eldest sister of Ali, Ethan and Georgina Taylor.
Biography[]
1986-2003: Backstory[]
Darlene was born in November 1986 to Karen and Richard Taylor the eldest of the their children Darlene was soon joined by her brothers Ali and later Ethan as well as her younger sister Georgina Taylor, Darlene along with Ali decided to stick with Richard after their mother, Karen divorced from their father.
2003-2004: Arrival & Clashing with the Burton's[]
Darlene arrives in Hollyoaks village along with her younger brother, Ali Taylor to move in with their father, Richard Taylor along with his fiancée, Liz Burton as well as Liz's children Mel, Sophie and Justin Burton unlike her brother, Darlene did her best to make her fathers relationship with Liz awkward and often would go out her own way and have numerous attempts to split her father and Liz however they would always backfire on Darlene causing her to clash with her father instead however Darlene would soon come to accept her fathers relationship with Liz after they marry. Darlene made friends with many of the locals also such as Natalie Osborne, Stacey Foxx and always going out her way to flirt and tease, Craig Dean.
2004: Justin's Attack[]
A year after her arrival in Hollyoaks, Darlene was due to celebrate her 18th birthday but at the time of her supposed celebration, Justin had found out that his father had in fact committed suicide and not a heart attack which was originally believed due to Liz lying, Darlene grew tired of Justin's erratic behaviour especially when he had turned to drugs, Darlene often took her frustration out on her father and Liz as Darlene felt that Liz could no longer control Justin. On the day of Darlene's 18th birthday party after catching Justin stealing from Liz's purse, Darlene has a few home truths told towards Justin and this leads Justin to push pass Darlene which causes her to fall out of a window, Darlene survives but is rushed to Hospital and ends up having scarring in her face after the incident, Darlene starts to isolate herself and becomes depressed despite efforts from Ali and her dad, Darlene refuses to leave the house and go to places such as School but Darlene soon receives support from Liz and Craig and soon has plastic surgery, Darlene soon forgives Justin whom was sent away at a boarding School to help with his behaviour and seeing that it has had a positive effect on Justin and her family, Darlene welcomes him back.
2005: Macki's Racism & Ali's Death[]
Things seem to be going well for the Taylor/Burtons however by May 2005, Darlene along with Ali start to become a victim of racism and bullying by a student named Stephen Mackintosh whom was known as "Macki", although Darlene never received the same amount of abuse by Macki as her brother Ali due to the fact Macki in fact fancied Darlene but knowing what kind of person Macki is and the way he treats her brother, Darlene continually rejected Macki's advances, Darlene eventually angered Macki to the point he attacks her and Ali and things end in tragic fashion when both Ali and Macki end up dead with Ali stabbing Macki while Ali was struck by a car while fleeing.
Ali's death devastated Darlene so much so her grief got the better of her and Darlene began to blame Justin for bringing Macki into their lives however Darlene soon realises that Justin is not to blame for Ali's so Darlene found herself attempting to clear Justin's name after he was arrested for Macki's murder after his DNA had been found on the knife however thanks to Darlene's evidence giving at the trail, Justin is freed and on the day of Ali's funeral, Darlene was shock to see her estranged mother, Karen Taylor to which she refuses to leave with her but not before making peace with her.
2005-2006: Relationship with Craig Dean & Departure[]
Not long after Macki's murder trial, Darlene discovers that her father, Richard is having an affair behind Liz's back therefore she bands together with Burtons and kicks Richard out causing him to leave Hollyoaks although Darlene is made clear by Liz that she still has a home with her, Darlene feels left out and struggles to cope with her fathers departure on top of not properly getting over Ali's death yet. Darlene then finds comfort in her close friend, Craig and he supports Darlene throughout all her worries and problems the two grow close enough and eventually the share a kiss and confess they're feelings for one another and Darlene begins a relationship with Craig and later moves Into Craig's home, The Dog in the Pond after Darlene had lied that Liz had thrown her out.
Darlene started to show more of a villainous side to her personality when she often manipulated Craig to turn him against people she does not like as well as getting her own way with him eventually Darlene attempts to have sex with Darren Osborne but Darren rejects her advances, Darlene tells Craig that Darren had attempted to make a move on her which Craig believed causing him to have a fight with Darren to her amusement eventually Darlene is played at her own game by Darren who proves to Craig that Darlene wants to sleep with him, Darlene is about to jump into bed with Darren and is caught red handed by Craig, Darlene then tells Craig that Darren tried to rape her knowing shes lying, Craig orders her to leave after been thrown out by Craig, Darlene lies to Liz that she left The Dog because, Jack Osborne had made a move on her this angered Liz however Jack explains all of Darlene's deeds and later throws Darlene out having being sick of her behaviour. Darlene attempts to reconcile with Craig but after he makes it clear that he wants nothing to do with her seeing no other option Darlene rings her mother to take up the offer she gave Darlene back at Ali's funeral after her mother agrees, Darlene departs Hollyoaks, moving down south to be with her mother.
