D.S. Garston (formerly D.C. Garston) was a police officer who spoke with Imran Maalik after he confessed to assaulting Misbah Maalik, Yasmine Maalik and Ste Hay in November 2018. After interviewing Imran, Officer Garston informed his family that he would be sent to a rehabilitation centre.
D.S. Garston interrupted Maxine Kinsella's living funeral in August 2019 to speak to Damon Kinsella. Damon refused to accompany D.C. Garston to the police station, so he was arrested. Interviewing Damon, D.C. Garston revealed that a fraud watchdog flagged suspicious activity in Maxine's fundraising account due to £15,000 being transferred, which Damon had done to fund Maxine's demands. He later charged Damon with fraud.
In October 2019, D.S. Garston arrested James Nightingale on suspicion of the murder of Harry Thompson. D.S. Garston revealed that the police know of him tracking Harry's phone and drugging him and accused him of being abusive to Harry. James protested his innocence and was released due to insufficient evidence.
