D.C. Hammond was a police officer who investigated the rape of Ellie Nightingale. D.C. Hammond questioned Nick Savage, whom Ellie told the officer had raped her. Despite also questioning Freddie Roscoe and Lisa Loveday (who both lied that Lisa had witnessed Nick spiking Ellie's drink), D.C. Hammond was told by CPS that charges could not be pressed due to a lack of evidence. In May 2017, Holly Cunningham reported Nick to the police after she was raped. D.C Hammond arrested Nick and charged him after he confessed to raping Holly and Ellie.

In October 2018, D.C. Hammond visited Brody Hudson after Buster Smith pleaded not guilty to historic sexual abuse. D.C. Hammond informed Brody that he would need to give evidence in front of a jury, with Brody opting to film a video testimony. A few weeks later, D.C. Hammond informed Brody that the case against Buster had been dropped, to which Buster's son Damon Kinsella lied that he had overheard an argument between his parents in which Buster confessed to the abuse.
