An unnamed coroner lead the inquest into the death of Rob Hawthorn, which had occurred on Millenium Eve. The coroner declared a verdict of 'death by misadventure', causing an outburst by Lucy Benson who revealed that Rob had started the fire that killed him, in an attempt to kill her and her friends. She also told the coroner that Rob had controlled her during their relationship, got her addicted to heroin, and accused a man in the gallery of being Rob's late father.
